Eaton’s Vehicle Group is currently seeking a Senior Embedded Electronics Engineer to join our team. This position can be based at our Southfield, MI; Galesburg, MI; or Marshall, MI facility. This role will work on-site at Southfield, Galesburg, or Marshall on Tuesday thru Thursday with hybrid remote work option on Monday and Friday. This role will support ECU Transmission Control systems for EV automotive & commercial vehicles. Full remote work in not an option. Position Overview: This position will support the Industrial Sector, Software Electronics Controls Center of Excellence (SwEC CoE). The primary function of the Senior Electronics Engineer is to participate in the development and application of electronic ECU Control Systems within automotive vehicle systems. As an individual, and as part of a team, the Senior Electronics Engineer will help resolve technical issues in the development of new products, and in the improvement of existing products. In this function you will: Requirements generation and gathering, execute concept selection, design verification definition, system integration support, testing and validation of embedded real-time control systems. Support embedded systems architecture design implementation and microcontroller selection Process including FUSA evaluations and Cyber Security considerations. Circuit design capability to specify input and output circuitry between a micro controller and vehicles sensors and actuators. Actively participate in failure investigations and root cause analysis for both current products and new products in development Complete Reliability analysis and risk management of electrical subsystem components using tools such as Failure Mode & Effects Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, and Failure Reporting & Corrective Action Systems Evaluation of new technology sensors, actuators and other electronic products Identification and implementation of product cost reduction and reliability improvement Technical project planning and management from concept phase through production release When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we — as individuals and as a company — are stronger. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an accredited university is required. Minimum of two (2) years of engineering experience. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship, now or in the future. Relocation is not available for this position. Candidates must be within a 50-mile radius of posted Eaton location (s) to be considered for this role. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation. Preferred Qualifications: Advanced Degree – Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Experience with Automotive embedded control systems – especially electric/hybrid vehicle Experience in requirements processes, writing specifications, and development of vehicle electrical system, electronic control units, sensors and actuators. Experience in the design, integration, and testing of embedded real-time systems. Experience with 32-bit embedded microprocessor control units Control System understanding Knowledge of embedded controllers and power electronics Understanding of Data acquisition systems Schematic capture and simulation with Cadence ORCAD, PSPICE simulation Understanding of Mechatronic systems (Electrically controlled Mechanical Systems) Knowledge of micro-controller hardware architecture Experience with working of ADC, GPIO, DMA, Interrupts, Timers/Counters Working knowledge of vehicle communication protocols like CAN, LIN, SENT, SPI etc. Working knowledge of CAN communication analyzer tools (e.g. CANalyzer and CANape) Experience with embedded C Experience with microcontroller-based projects (From selection to application of micro) Knowledge of topics/standards like AUTOSAR, ISO 26262, functional safety, cyber security Knowledge of embedded software architecture (MCAL, ASW, BSE, RTE) Knowledge of lab equipment like oscilloscope, signal analyzer etc. Knowledge on Hardware Security Module is Highly preferred We are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
