Job Description
Job Summary The primary responsibility of this role is to Lead Current Product Projects for Clutch Components and systems to meet customer specific technical, manufacturing and cost related requirements of Commercial Vehicle applications. The applicant should have hands on experience on Clutch application and duty cycle across regions as well as knowledge of Clutch Assembly Line. The applicant should have strategic thought on sustaining business across multiple regions. Applicant must have in-depth knowledge of manufacturing process involving casting, forging and sheet-metal components. Understand the implications of process change on design and approve deviations from suppliers. Applicant shall have experience in design, development and validation of Clutch components and systems for automotive and industrial OEMs. Applicant must be proficient with performing analytical design calculations, good understanding of GD&T & tolerance stack up analysis. The candidate must be self-motivated and possess good communication skills with cross functional team namely engineering, manufacturing, project management, marketing and supply chain. Applicant must have strong problem solving skills and have demonstrated knowledge of Problem solving process like 8D, RedX etc. for warranty and field failure issues resolution. Should have knowledge & exposer to resolve production line issues related to design,DFA,DFM. Applicant should demonstrate passion on Contribution towards intellectual property (Patents and disclosures) and lead ideation sessions coordinating with cross functional team. Job Responsibilities Main Function Performs challenging engineering assignments - involving Deviation approval for production line Quality issues, Strategic product and process improvement, testing and preparation of specifications, process studies or investigations using appropriate tools and techniques Support to Execute proto-type build, performance / durability testing, teardown of proto-type samples to evaluate product performance against customer requirements for concept level ideas as well as detailed design before product launch Capturing Stakeholder Voice, Planning milestones, Executing milestones, Conducting technical and project Reviews, Communication and On job development through technical mentoring to project team Utilize DFSS concepts / tools such as PDSC, P-Diagram, DFMEA, Risk Management & DVPR for design and manufacturing issue resolution, Existing product improvements and drive NPI efficacy in projects and team Creates, and sustains process for design standards and procedures governing product design methods, documents and data control for the associated business group Utilizes understanding of manufacturing processes to improve new and existing designs & acts as a technical resource for internal / external customers and resolves technical challenges Maintain credible communication practice with external customer on technical clarifications, testing & resolving of field failures Positively influence cross functional team for successful execution of product design across all stages of product development process per PRO-Launch. Champion continuous capability and process improvements to support the Eaton Business System. Qualifications Qualifications Education level required: BE/ME/MTech/MS in Mechanical /Automobile Engineering (IIT /NIT or any other reputed college will be added advantage). Preferred education level: BE / BTech :7-9 yrs. ; ME/ MTech : 5-7 yrs. of experience in engineering/product design. Technical knowledge/Soft Skills: Proven track record in engineering Design, Analysis, R&D, Application Engineering domain Knowledge about Manufacturing and Assembly processes Hands on experience in Problem solving tools and processes - Plant & Quality Issues or Warranty issues from field. Have global suppler capability knowledge and footprint will be added advantage Experience in navigating projects having significant amount of design ambiguity/complexity and meet the design requirements thru innovation Experience in CR/CO processes in Enovia Excellent English communication (oral and written) and presentation skills Team player with highly effective interpersonal and collaboration skills. Soft skills: Good verbal and written communication skills; Team player with highly effective interpersonal skills; Experience in handling direct / indirect project leadership role.
