High-Level Function and Role Overview

The A&E Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, implementation and assistance with the support of AstraZeneca End User Services (EUS) Information Services solutions. This will involve all aspects of planning, analysis, design, development, testing and implementation of solutions, and may involve working closely with third party suppliers. The role will also be involved in providing recommendations on enhancements, monitoring the performance and support maintenance of deployed solutions. The Engineer will adhere to the established AstraZeneca lifecycle methodology and practices and will be familiar with applications/infrastructure that their solutions will impact.

The Engineer will work with EUS Service Architects and Service and Operations teams to deliver technology focussed SME capabilities in one of the focus areas of Collaboration, Conferencing or End User Devices. This will include:

• Hands-on technical resource for projects and major changes
• Development and evolution of technical solutions
• Evaluation of new technologies for delivery of benefit against identified business demand
• Technical support for ITIL Problem Management Processes

Key Accountabilities

• Provide technical leadership and expertise in support of EUS project teams to ensure effective interoperability of services and technologies and assures alignment of solution designs with AstraZeneca standards, policies and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements
• Adhere to and promote AstraZeneca’s IT development and compliance standards and governance processes
• Translate business demand to technical requirement specifications for evaluation and PoC activities
• Assist with the creation and management of technical documentation
• Lead technical investigation of problems
• Work with supplier project teams to ensure effective interoperability of services and technologies and assures alignment of designs with AstraZeneca standards, policies and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements
• Provides input into business cases, Request for Proposals, supplier selection and evaluation of proposals
• Conducts performance analysis and documents solution components
• Implements test plans for solutions developed in-house (including functionality, integrity and stress testing; test matrices; and definition of test methodologies and strategy)
• Through innovative solutions and process change programmes drive higher levels of service and customer experience

Candidate Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Critical Experience

• Degree level education in computer science or similar
• Prior experience in an Information Services/Information Technology environment with good business acumen
• Proven experience of managing relationships with 3rd party suppliers
• Experience of working within a quality and compliance environment and application of policies, procedures and guidelines
• Evidence of designing, shaping and implementing innovative infrastructure solutions and driving any changes

Skills

• Good communication skills supporting joint working with geographically remote colleagues
• Ability to interpret and communicate technical information into business language
