Job Summary The Senior Firmware Engineer will be responsible for the supporting firmware development on multiple projects in NSI for commercial vehicle. This includes working with the systems organization and product SMEs to develop firmware requirements, robust firmware design, firmware validation, and other firmware project deliverables. Job Responsibilities • Understand firmware architecture and modules for 48V EV applications • Develop and manage product firmware requirements, with input from customer specifications, stakeholder suggestions, and product management raodmaps • Benchmark typical automotive architectures to develop embedded firmware, firmware architecture and supporting documentation according to established NPD process. • As per Verification & Validation cycle, utilize software development and quality tools and perform software test procedures to verify software functionality. • Test and debug prototype units using standard electrical lab equipment to verify firmware functionality and integration with electrical/mechanical systems. • Collaborate with firmware development and system validation engineers across global locations • Work with cross functional team for the development of test automation procedures to perform lab testing and product validation. • Deliver and participate in software/firmware technical presentations for internal design reviews, and design discussions with customers. • Work with cross-functional teams including project managers, electrical and mechanical engineers to create high quality, robust products • Support the generation of intellectual property at Eaton. Qualifications Education level required Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Electronics, Embedded Systems, Telecommunications or equivalent Years and area of experience required 4 ~ 8 years of Experience in Automotive firmware development especially in Microchip dsPIC33CK and in CAN interface software - SPI interface, SPI EEPROM, etc Technical knowledge • Working knowledge of Embedded "C", C++, MATLAB • Experience with multiple processors and integrated development environments (ST, Atmel/Microchip, Renesas, Microchip, TI, Infineon, etc.) • Working knowledge of vehicle networked systems using SAE J1939 CAN, CAN-FD, LIN, Automotive Ethernet • Experience developing programs and scripts for test automation (LabVIEW, Python, BASH, PERL, etc.) • Experience with communication protocols such as: UDS, I2C, SPI, RS232, J1939 CAN, etc. • Experience using and maintaining version control systems such as SVN, Bitbucket, or GIT • Experience with ISO 26262, CMMI, ASIL levels a plus, cybersecurity Soft skills Creative Engineering acumen, collaborative working style, high drive and go-getter in a fast-paced project environment, proficient written and verbal communication skills Eaton is an intelligent power management company dedicated to improving the quality of life and protecting the environment for people everywhere.
