Eaton’s Commercial Distribution & Control Assemblies Division is currently seeking a Senior Engineer to join our Flex Center in Cleveland, TN. Relocation assistance will be provided. Position Overview: The Senior Flex Engineer fills the role of subject matter expect in the product and change processes for the flex engineering team. They are a guiding source of information on product design for the plant and external stakeholders. Performs project engineering work from design to implementation; communicates expectations, plans and requirements and coordinates all work within the scope of assigned projects. Serves as a consultant, providing technical information and engineering recommendations that assist various projects / processes. Also, coaches, trains less experienced engineers. Contributes effectively towards team goals, influences the work group and works beyond routine nature of tasks utilizing specialized knowledge to support internal and external customers. In this function you will: Create mechanical and/or electrical designs for custom products in response to a design specification from sales and marketing. Provide on-site support for the shop floor (fabrication and assembly) to assist in design validation, problem solving, quality reviews, etc. Identify and execute on CIF (Continuous Improvement Framework) projects in Flex – Process standardization, layouts, 5S, etc. Develop new flex product designs that may require the implementation of unique solutions. Leads PROLaunch process for Flex Center Minor Repeater or Runner type projects including collaboration across functions. Utilize appropriate standards such as UL, CSA, IEEE, NEMA, ANSI, ASTM, and NEC in development on Flex products and maintenance of existing flex product designs. Develop accurate and effective NC programs. Maintain a high level of productivity in task completion by identifying and seeking assistance or training in areas of low expertise. Provide work and technical direction to fellow engineers and shop personnel (both on site and virtual) and effectively leverage resources to maximize efficiency. Write/modify instruction literature, publications, markings, and labels for new or revised products. Have thorough understanding of materials and manufacturing capabilities used at manufacturing sites. Ability to identify and recommend product design changes or improvements. Apply advanced tools in problem solving such as Design for Six Sigma and Lean, and engineering skill sets such as thermodynamics, strength of materials, circuits, and kinematics. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, Metamation NC programming, Enovia V6 Experience within a manufacturing environment Position Criteria: Strong verbal and written communication skills Advanced tools in problem solving and project management to solve technical issues; Application of processes such as Design For Six Sigma or Lean.
