Job Description
Role Summary: The China Engineering Leader will provide technical and operational leadership for the local Chinese engineering team. In this role, you lead the Chinese Engineering team which supports the commercial team in the tendering phase, develops local modifications to the turbine, supports the Supply Chain team to develop a low-cost local supply chain and supports the Projects team when executing offshore wind projects in China.
Essential Responsibilities: o Develop and successfully execute engineering activities that positions the business as a market leader in technology, performance, and cost
o Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders such as Product Line, Supply Chain, Projects, Services and the GM for China to execute strategic plans and deliver for customers
o Maintain a strong relationship with the Global Engineering Organization in Europe. Ensure regular exchange of lessons learned and best practices are communicated both ways.
o Drive Engineering Excellence across the organization
o Lead a global, multi-faceted Engineering team with responsibility for setting priorities, shaping culture, and strategic planning
o Provide leadership, technical direction, and mentoring to strengthen the discipline, quality, reliability, and rigor of engineering work
o Ensure appropriate operating rhythm to ensure robust cost-out project deck and world class fleet performance
o Partner with stakeholders to drive corrective and preventative actions to deliver world class quality
o Ensure all business metrics are met by the team, driving simplification, efficiency, productivity, and overall team performance
o Provide leadership with high integrity and oversight of processes protecting Intellectual Property, export controlled information, and strategic technology
Qualifications/Requirements: o Master's Degree in an Engineering
o Minimum 10 years proven technology experience
o Minimum 5 years of relevant leadership experience
o Minimum 5 years of experience in the Wind Industry
Desired Characteristics: o Deep Wind industry expertise with proven results developing & implementing technology programs
o Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to set vision and lead team to successful outcomes
o Demonstrated system thinking: ability to assess tradeoffs, effectively assess risk, and optimize results
o Excellent business acumen and customer focus
o Demonstrated ability to work horizontally across stakeholders to influence outcomes
o Strong interpersonal skills including: presence, high credibility, and ability to develop relationships
o Prior leadership experience leading New Product Introduction (NPI) programs with proven ability delivering complex programs on schedule, within budget, and proven component performance
o Strong presentation, communication, and negotiation skills
o Strong English communication skills
