PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB

• Develop and source new material both woven and knit based on seasonal direction from design

• Support overseas design/product developer and prepare seasonal fabric presentation

• Collaborate with design for new fabric options and fabric development to meet business and technical needs, cost and quality requirements

• Work closely with cross functional teams and bridge up fabric supplier and garment factory to ensure smooth communication

• Arrange the protocol for proto sample, salesman sample, fabric approval and testing

• Ensure seasonal sampling requirements of materials are fulfilled in time and in correct quality

• Follow up on color development and provide comment to fabric suppliers i.e. lab dip, handloom, strike off review.

• Daily contact with fabric suppliers and garment vendors for all fabric research and follow up

• Risk assessment and precaution to ensure materials meet the brand specification and provide solution

• Finalize materials details, prices, surcharges, lead times and order/color minimums to fulfill the division's needs

• Review and evaluate fabric suppliers' performance

• Continuous coaching fabric suppliers to meet business needs on procedures, price, cost and aesthetic appearance

• Fabric library and bulk quality master maintenance

• Summarize seasonal development cost, invoice consolidation and follow up on invoice submission

• Support innovation, trend research, and market intelligence sharing with the divisions

• Visit seasonal textile exhibition to achieve latest fabric trend and leverage information with counter parts

• Perform other duties as assigned by management

• Seasonal travel for fabric sourcing and supporting design input trip

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Minimum of 7 years relevant work experience in the fabric developer role

2. Diploma or above in Textile & Clothing or related discipline

3. Excellent communication in both Chinese and English, literate in MS Office tools

4. Occasional travel is required
