The Role

National Instruments Field Application Engineers ensure customer success at key accounts by demonstrating the highest technical aptitude and professional engineering skills. They generate and execute on technical demand while becoming trusted technical partners for NI’s most strategic customers. This is a unique role that requires not only technical leadership, but also strong interpersonal and relationship development skills, customer-facing experience, business acumen, and personal drive.

Key Responsibilities

? Applying NI platform knowledge with deep industry and application expertise.

? Building executive level relationships at strategic semiconductor accounts as well as NI internal organization

? Demonstrating great technical credibility, solidifying customer technical partnership with NI

? Understanding current and future trends, industry dynamics, industry leaders, technical cadence and influences and the impacts of those against targeted account(s)

? Planning, organizing and supervising other engineers involvement for emerging growth applications to ensure success within the account, ranging from software and hardware architecture to cross teams interlocks

? Co-Authoring business strategies with NI Account Manager(s), Marketing and Business Development leaders to drive revenue growth at target account through

? Providing technical leadership in the closing of strategic opportunities within targeted application area(s)

? Contributing industry and technical insight while leading NI's strategy within targeted application area(s)

? Working with various internal stakeholders in the creation and messaging of NI's value within targeted application area(s), growing NI's brand awareness and success across industry and strategic accounts

? Leveraging industry, application area, and account knowledge to uncover and influence customer future technical needs and challenges generating further technical demand for NI products, services, and support.

? Achievement of key sales objectives for assigned account(s) tied to generating technical demand, account strategy success, and account(s) annual quota attainment

? Recognized by customer to have contributed to customer success; building organization level loyalty within the account, as measured through repeated business.

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications

? Bachelors or Masters degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math)

? 8+ years of relevant Semiconductor industry experience in the areas of:

ü RFIC or mixed-signal IC testing and validation

ü RF FEM, On-Wafer test, IPD, ADC/DAC, LED, MEMS sensor

ü Software and system development, including test case development

ü Text-Based Programming, C++, VB, Java, etc.

ü Test platform software (SmarTest, IG-XL, etc)

ü Major semiconductor ATE platform (V93000, Ultra, J750, Pax, etc)

? 3+ years in a customer-facing role as a technical team lead/manager

? Experience communicating directly with customers at executive level

? Experience publishing technical papers and/or presenting in Semiconductor journals and/or conferences

? Willing and able to travel – within Taiwan and China (20% estimated), APAC and US (5% estimated)

? Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills. Fluency in English

Preferred Qualifications

? Member of semiconductor industry committee (preferred)

? NI PXI platform or NI Labview/TestStand experience ( plus)
