PRIMARY FUNCTION Eaton is looking for an experienced Firmware/Application Engineer to develop innovative solutions for our Buildings as a Grid (BaaG). The person will be located in Eaton European Innovation Center in Prague (EEIC), Czech Republic. In this role the person will be responsible for driving new technology research, steering the project and coordinating team members; will be supervising and participating in computer simulation, design and development, and further comprehensive testing of electronics devices, with a focus on communication and automation technologies. Therefore, a good blend of technical knowledge and project execution processes understanding is required to be successful in this position. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Drive firmware and application (Codesys) design and development activities and demonstrate start-finish ownership for the assigned project Supervise and participate in performing computer simulation and design of electronics, including analog and digital circuitries; building prototypes, conducting electrical, thermal and lifetime tests, analyzing data to improve/optimize the design in terms of performance, size, cost, manufacturability, and reliability Create technical reports and presentations Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to successfully develop and validate the design Qualifications SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE Basic Qualifications: BS in electrical or software engineering or equivalent Minimum 3 years in FW/SW engineering work Proven hands-on experience with electronics devices development Strong knowledge of microcontrollers, C, C++ and similar English at good spoken as well as written level Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated knowledge of engineering processes and project development practices PLC and Codesys experience Design for Six Sigma certification preferred Understanding basics of HW Agile environment Position Criteria: Self-motivated and goal-oriented individual Communication skills Working in international team, willingness to travel (EU) Ability to learn new technology, products and industry Competence in writing reports and technical documentation Fluent in oral and written English Collaborative orientation, the ability to succeed in a performance-driven team, global, and diverse environment What you will get from us Eaton’s mission is to improve the quality of life and the environment through the use of power management technologies and services.
