Eaton’s Commercial and Residential Distribution Solutions division is currently seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Haina, Dominican Republic facility. Position Overview: Eaton’s Commercial & Residential Distribution Solutions division is currently seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to develop and support firmware and software for embedded systems/micro-controllers. Also will perform electronic circuit design, both analog and digital, for products related to residential and commercial circuit protection devices. In addition, the person will help to identify and evaluate emerging markets and technologies globally; conduct research, design, development and industrialization of new innovative products and services. Identify technical solutions associated to technical issues found in electronic based products and their applications. In this role, you will: Lead firmware and software developments for embedded systems/micro-controllers Support software development for multiple platforms, including Windows, OS X, Linux, embedded and web applications. Participate in the design of analog and digital circuits, including power supplies, signal conditioning, and microprocessor support circuits. Stay abreast of market trends and emerging technologies globally, with a particular emphasis on embedded and connected systems, and evaluate their potential impact on Eaton business Research and develop business case(s) in new product development cycle to understand viability of proposed products in the marketplace Drives enhancement of existing products and services based on evaluations of existing and new technologies per Eaton’s strategic plans Represent Eaton’s interests on councils and committees tasked with developing codes and standards for emerging technologies in which Eaton is investing. Perform technical evaluations of third-party solutions and assess opportunities to develop partnerships or and new suppliers Contribute to domestic and international project teams assigned to research, design, develop, test and/or launch new innovations; ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Lead product certification activities acting as the Eaton representative- UL/CSA/ Act as a technical advisor to product line managers and/or manufacturing engineers throughout the ProLaunch process Act as an advisor and mentor to other engineering talents to help development of new talent within Eaton Coordinates project activities with other engineering units to facilitate on time project completion. Review project-related documentation to ensure its accuracy. Provide technical soundness of design decisions and products changes to facilitate manufacturing, reduce cost, substitute material, improve quality and accommodate special customer needs. Work with manufacturing plants on plans, processes and strategies to accomplish a trouble-free introduction of products into manufacturing. Use of PRO Launch on new product development and product line transfer. #LI-JF1 Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor degree in Electronic or Electromechanical Engineering, computer science or similar careers. Firmware and software programing: C, C++,C#, Assembly, Python, Java, Bash, MATLAB. Software: Linux, UNIX, Windows, git, others Computer knowledge: MS Office, Familiarity with PADS, Altium and CAD tools, C programming language for embedded designs. Minimum experience of 3 - 5 years in similar positions. Preferred Qualifications: Preferable: Master Degree Previous experience with root cause analysis and troubleshooting engineering systems. Knowledge of SPC (Statistical Process Control), Lean, 6 Sigma.
