Eaton is currently seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Plymouth, MN or Rockville, MD locations. Position Overview: Are you a firmware engineer who enjoys doing low level work, getting into the hardware layer and working with real time data? Do you enjoy running algorithms on analog and digital signals with DSPs? Are you excited to develop next generation technology solutions to enable the smart grid to become smarter? The Senior Firmware Engineer position will be a member of a dynamic, experienced team who can help design, implement, and test smart algorithms and controls for our exciting digital devices. In this function you will: Design: work with the hardware layer to create digital signal processing algorithms. Design: Work with the hardware system to use microprocessor peripherals to the best of their ability. Deliver: Implement firmware solutions for signal processing real time data from the hardware. Analyze: Provide continuous improvement based on feedback and be highly proficient with current technology. Be Agile: Be a part of a sprint-based development team. Able to adapt and learn new technologies, tools, and practices. A minimum 5 years of technical experience with focus on C/C++ and Embedded Devices No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Plymouth, MN will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future Preferred qualifications: Experience with full life cycle software development including requirements, design, development, and testing.  Experience working in Agile development teams. Experience with DSP Algorithms. Experience with ARM processors and architecture. Experience with Hardware Abstraction Layer. Experience with Agile development methodologies and concepts. Experience with Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and DevOps. Experience with Linux and command line. Knowledge and technical understanding of the Electric Utility Industry. Position Criteria: Ability to travel up to 10% internationally and domestically. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Desire to tinker, play with hardware.
