We have an excellent opportunity to join our Quality Team based in Slough. We are looking for a Global Senior Quality and Food Safety Scientist to design and develop systems, tools, processes and procedures to support the regions, markets and factory teams in translating our key food safety standards into operations both globally and within the regions.

 

With the technical know-how and experience to link all the specific food safety standards (Allergen, HACCP, GMP, Physical Hazards) to our management processes, our ideal candidate will closely partner with the food safety team to ensure that emerging risks and requirements within standards are correctly deployed.

 

What are we looking for?

• Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology or relevant subject
• Significant experience working with Quality Management Systems, ideally gathered through implementation of a QMP at a factory level
• Excellent working knowledge of Food Safety Management Systems, including HACCP and experience implementing HACCP programs.
• Knowledge of food processing, food chemistry, raw material supply chains, risk assessment and food safety regulation/legislative requirements
• Experience in Incident Management
• Knowledge of inbound/outbound supply chains is an advantage
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and programs whilst having excellent influencing, leading and organisational skills.

 

What would be your key responsibilities?

• Responsible for tactical deployment and compliance of Mars Wrigley Food Safety standards, including leading standards approval and providing governance of Food Safety standards: leading implementation phases, compliance and monitoring, oversight, and assignment of required corrective activities across the segment.
• Operates as a liaison between regional and corporate or Mars Wrigley Food Safety teams, bringing into those teams unsolved Food Safety questions or issues. Communicates immediate or intermediate Food safety solutions needed within the regions, ensures that recommendations are tracked appropriately, reflected in the site Quality Management Process (QMP) and are rolled out on the global level, if needed.  Sits on the Segment Global QMP team, ensuring that approaches to FS standards’ management are aligned with global QMP processes.
• Builds strong collaborative relationships across global Q&FS, operations, commercial, or other key stakeholder functions. Develops and fully aligns with key stakeholders’ roles, responsibilities, and ways of working. Supports Global Confectionery VP in conducting Segment Quarterly Quality Review by compiling performance metrics and tracking agreed actions.
• Responsible for a Continuous Improvement cycle and governing updates process to FS standards based on the current scientific evidence and horizon scanning, external and internal learnings and business risks or needs. Ensures root cause analysis is performed and learnings captured.
• Builds Q&FS capability within R&D and Supply engaging with functional teams and supporting them to create their quality plans and programs. Responsible for FS standards’ training deployment. Works with the QMP capability lead to ensure a consistent roll out of FS standards capability strategy
