Job Description

Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer, ready for your next challenge? Then AstraZeneca might be the one for you!

AstraZeneca is a global, science-led, patient-focused biopharmaceutical company that focuses on the discovery, development and commercialisation of prescription medicines for some of the world’s most serious diseases. But we’re more than one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies.

We are driven by our commitment to deliver accelerated growth for AstraZeneca and to make people’s lives better. It pushes us to keep building on our foundations and progressing as we turn our ever-growing and increasingly complex pipeline from molecule to medicine. Be part of evolving how we work with Lean, cutting-edge science, digitalisation and sustainable practices.

Location: Gothenburg or Södertälje

Here at Global Engineering and Real Estate (GERE) we are accountable for scoping, planning and executing major capital projects across all AstraZeneca sites as well as supporting the broader company through developing and implementing technical support and standards.

By putting next generation assets on the ground, the team is playing a fundamental role in supporting AstraZeneca’s strong pipeline. Combining the use of the newest technologies, skilled program management and a broad range of engineering and construction expertise, the team establishes strong and positive partnerships with end customers to build facilities which match requirements and exceed expectations.

What you’ll do

As a Global Electrical Engineer you will be a part of a team of specialists within the Global Engineering Technical Services team who provide a range of services to all parts of the AstraZeneca business including:

  • Identification, translation and delivery of engineering technologies
  • Product and process design and improvement
  • New asset provision
  • Existing asset improvement
  • Digital Solution Integration

Essential for the role
As an authority in electrical control systems, you will demonstrate in-depth knowledge and experience. You hold a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) and an understanding of electrical control systems used in the operation and support of pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities. To succeed in this role, you have the ability to influence internal and external business leaders and partners.

In addition to this below are some more specific requirements:

  • In-depth technical and operational knowledge of electrical control systems (such as environmental monitoring systems, PLCs, drive systems, functional safety, equipment in hazardous areas)
  • Significant experience in the specification, procurement, installation, start up and commissioning of electrical control systems
  • Experience working as part of capital project delivery team from business case development through project execution to handover

Collaboration is a way of life for us, though the role is based in Sweden you will still be an active piece in our international team. Your expertise may be needed for technical assessments at other facilities, in order to do so you need to be able to travel internationally accordingly.

Desirable for the role
