ABB is seeking a Senior Human Resource(HR) Specialist. This role will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to a division of our employees and work closely with our outsourced vendor fielding inbound/outbound calls, handling escalated issues, and responding to questions and issues relating to their payroll and benefits in a timely and efficient manner. The HR Service Specialist will interact with various levels of management within the organization for escalated or key account issues. This individual will demonstrate strong US payroll and tax knowledge to ensure compliance and accuracy, while proactively monitoring payroll activities.
Your responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional customer service with prompt and professional responses via phone e-mail and cases. Provide necessary research, problem solving and resolution support to employees and/or the business.
- Understand and convey the general functions and procedures of all departments within ABB, Inc.
- Manage vendor relationships by communicating expectations, procedures and timing standards.
- Act as an intermediary between ABB division and the outsource vendors and resolve any issues as it relates to benefits, time and payroll.
- Perform weekly payroll audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Provide payroll approvals to the outsourced vendor. Assist with any issues that need to be resolved and notify the vendor of correction.
- Responsible for recording, monitoring, and resolving agency tax notices with vendor and government agencies, as well as validating all agency responses.
- Prepare and maintain standard and ad hoc reports, queries, and conduct appropriate audits to ensure data integrity.
- Provide support, reconciliation, and delivery/receipt/action of third-party outbound interfaces.
- Research and remain current with payroll and tax compliance regulations covering the US ABB regions and validates that applicable changes have been implemented by vendor.
- Assist with Year-End processing and closing.
- Manage and administer controls and compliance, assist with both internal and external audits to ensure complete, timely and accurate responses to information requests.

- Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Your background
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and/or experience combined and minimum 5 years of experience in Payroll.
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Experience working with an outsourced Human Resource / Payroll vendor a plus.
- Prior experience in a Shared Services environment.
- Highly effective listening, oral and written communication skills.
- Strong process/systems knowledge and understands inter-relatedness of various HR work streams.
- Significant experience working with HR technology, data and reporting.
- Must be results oriented with the ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities.
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Preferred Workday experience.
- PHR or CCP Certification a plus.
- Optimistic, positive and proactive in approach to work.
