We are developing ground-breaking hardware, software, and experiences across computer vision, machine learning, human-computer interaction, and image and video processing, networking and graphics.
We are looking for an Electrical Engineer for our Camera Systems Team with an emphasis on camera module design. The candidate will be responsible for end-to-end ownership of camera modules which includes defining, architecting, development, testing, and release into production. The engineering deliverables must meet performance, cost, and mass production requirements for the product.
Responsibilities
The candidate must have multi-functional understanding of HW, SW, and basic optics principles required to implement a system. The candidate will be responsible for:
• Design of electrical components for camera module assemblies
• Produce/manage design packages for vendors, including schematics and layout specifications
• Iterate with module vendor on component placement, layout, and rigid flex design
• Work with the engineering team to develop manufacturing processes at the contract manufacturer
• Assemble optical systems (lens system, camera system, etc.), characterization equipment, and test fixtures as required
• Work closely with the engineering and PM team for camera module design and roadmaps
• Participate in the development of future camera modules from concept to mass production
• Develop packaging concepts and tradeoffs for new camera modules/systems and be responsible for their implementation into production
• Influence sensor vendor technology roadmaps for the benefit of AR/VR product lines
• Develop intellectual property related to camera solutions
• Participate in environmental, reliability, and electrical compliance tests
It is expected the candidate will work across functional teams like program management, mechanical engineering, optical engineering, and software.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
B.S.E.E. or equivalent with 3+ years developing products from initial concepts to mass production.
Experience in low noise analog sensor design
Experience in design for signal integrity and EMC
Experience in PCB cad tools (Cadence or equivalent) for schematic capture and layout
Hands-on experience prototyping electric sensor systems
Comfortable using lab tools such as: scopes, logic analyzers, volt meters, etc.
Basic understanding on signal processing techniques
Able to analyze sensor characterization data in tools such as Matlab
Experience in Failure Analysis
Logical and creative thinker
Good communication skills, with the ability to work with stakeholders across multiple functions
Demonstrated problem-solving and communication skills as well as the ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams and independently
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in image sensor technologies
Understanding of basic optics
Experience with flex and rigidized flex designs
Software skills in Matlab, C/C++, or Python
Understanding of and experience with a compact camera module design
Experience characterizing and validating camera module performance
Understand the manufacturing processes of miniature compact camera modules
Knowledge of wafer-level cameras and associated packaging
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
