The Microsoft Cloud Server Infrastructure (CSI) team is an exciting and fast evolving engineering group within Microsoft. The CSI Engineering team is responsible for Microsoft's server hardware definition and design. We work closely with Microsoft product groups, industry partners and researchers to design and develop server hardware that drives our cloud services at the lowest possible total cost of ownership (TCO).  

Responsibilities

We currently seek a Senior Hardware Program Manager; in this role you will work with hardware, software and service engineers, datacenter and supply chain managers, server manufacturers, component suppliers and others to support the development of the next generation of server hardware and peripherals that will power the Microsoft Cloud.

 

For this role, we are seeking an experienced industry professional who can contribute to the overall strategy, definition and implementation of critical hardware and component testing & qualification initiatives and programs to drive the overall supplier ecosystem, optimize and deliver industry leading cloud infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft’s online services used by our customers around the world.

 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with internal business and engineering team members to gather and define overall business and engineering needs to deliver high quality server solutions for datacenter deployments.
  • Develop an understanding of business objectives, market conditions, new product introductions and technology transitions to help define the overall testing, validation and qualification initiatives and programs.
  • Partnering with external hardware suppliers, test labs and test equipment suppliers to ensure the design, quality and delivery metrics are well defined and on track .
  • Coordinate with suppliers on commodity qualification schedules, expectations and roadmaps.
  • Develop partnerships and collaborate with internal teams to understand and help drive hardware requirements across various initiatives to increase team productivity and scale qualification capacity across the globe.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Minimum BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering or similar field (or similar experience)
  • 7 years or greater industry experience working in the technology field or on development of electromechanical devices, from definition to delivery
  • Direct experience working with vendors for HW development.
  • Strong ability to work across multiple organizations
  • Familiarity with the key elements of server and data center architecture
  • Effective communication skills required, including the ability to clearly express technical concepts in verbal and written forms
