Position:                                           International HR Senior Manager - APAC / UK

 

Location:                            Flexible (UK or APAC locations considered.  It is possible for this role to be home or office based).

 

Reporting to:                     VP, Human Resources (based in UK)

 

Career Classification Level: M2, Senior Manager

 

 

The Role

 

We are looking for a Senior HR Manager with:

 

  • Experience of leading a remote international HR team and working in a global, fast-paced organisation.
  • UK and APAC specific HR experience (experience working with India, Japan, Korea, China, Singapore and Taiwan would be an advantage), with understanding of different cultures.

 

Role Purpose

 

Leading an international team of HR Business Partners (with a wider team of HR/Office Admins) to deliver a range of high quality solutions to employees and managers, that address business needs. You will have significant HR expertise and business knowledge to enable your team to consult with clients and apply appropriate solutions that address complex business issues. You will work with HR colleagues including divisional HR and HR Centres of Excellence, and senior business leaders, to help develop plans, policies and overall strategy for the HR function within your client group.  

 

This role can be:

 

  • Based in the UK (either fully home-based or eventually in our offices in Maidenhead, Sheffield or London when they re-open), for someone who has previous experience of working in/with APAC counties.

OR

  • Based in APAC (either fully home-based or eventually in our offices in Bangalore, Mumbai, Tokyo, Seoul or Taipei when they reopen), for someone who has previous experience of working in/closely with the UK.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage an international HR team based in the UK, India, Japan, Korea, Singapore and Taiwan, holding regular 1-1s and team meetings to keep everyone aligned to goals, and working to develop team members, assisting them with challenges and escalations.
  • Own HR Business Partnering and HR Operations across multiple sites (UK, India, Japan, Korea, Singapore and Taiwan) innovating and driving improvements in all areas of HR operations and administration.
  • Consult and advise on complex employee relations issues, including discipline, grievances, performance, absence management and redundancies as required.
  • Assess HR policies and procedures for relevance, and business / legal alignment, redrafting and communicating as appropriate.
  • Helping develop new working practices in areas relating to diversity, inclusion and mental health.
  • Working closely with managers and colleagues to provide support and guidance on HR issues, global HR processes and changes to employment legislation, including developing and delivering presentations in the form of information sessions,.
  • Written communications to managers and employees.
  • Assisting with culture transformation by being visible and regularly speaking to employees and managers. 
  • Helping develop ideas on employee engagement for virtual and global teams.
  • Build a strong relationship with the internal client groups particularly Language Delivery, Technology and Corporate Functions, working in conjuction with regional HR across the world and HR centres of excellence.
  • Offer 'open door' and provide advice to employees on work related issues with empathy and professionalism.
  • Work closely with our centres of excellence in Talent Acquisition, Global Total Rewards and Talent development to help locally communicate our global HR projects such as career framework, annual salary review process and salary bands.

 

 

Requirements:

 

  • Ability to mentor and help assist the personal development of other team members
  • Demonstrable experience of HR work in the UK and APAC region
  • Clear communicator in written and spoken English, confident at presenting and experienced at having difficult conversations on sensitive subjects
  • Experience of integrating HR teams and employees for the post integration work
  • Hands on experience of owning employee relations cases including redundancy consultation processes, protected conversations, capability and performance and disciplinary cases.
  • Strong customer service skills – all employees and managers are our customers
  • Friendly, approachable and empathetic with good listening skills and ability to be a trusted advisor to line managers.
  • Team player able to build strong relationships across boundaries.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to check the work of others.
