Senior Product Engineering Lab Technician – Job Description

This position is heavily focused on Lab Support, requiring the candidate to spend a vast majority of time in the lab doing hands on work. This role will support the Software-Defined Radio Group (SRP) product engineering team to evaluate/characterize ADC’s, DAC, and High-speed serial interfaces for our next generation Transceiver products. The primary goal of the lab is to provide capabilities, equipment, and manpower to enable new product developments. Exciting opportunities to work on cutting edge technologies with challenges linked to pursuit of new ideas. 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform product characterization and evaluation tests using bench top setups and automated test systems
  • Conduct regular maintenance, debugging and general fixing of lab equipment.
  • Work closely with product and design engineers to setup new experiments properly and to collect meaningful data thereafter
  • Soldering (board re-work) support and maintenance of equipment
  • Maintain logistics around evaluation board builds
  • Order board components and lab equipment as needed
    • Maintain relationships with our vendors

Key Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in a technical engineering field (with 3+ years of experience)
  • Knowledge of automated test programming languages such as C, C#, VB.Net, LabView, Python desired
  • Experience in test systems and following test procedures
  • Experience in lab equipment maintenance and strong debugging skills
  • Assembly and re-work experience
  • Solid problem solving and communication skills
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Familiarity with lab equipment's and measurement system like signal analyzer, oscilloscope, power supply, etc.
  • Detail-oriented & motivated individual who is a self-starter

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of electrical circuits and testing
  • Experience in building basic electrical hardware, developing customized characterization and automated test systems
