RWS Division:

The Italian Language Delivery team is based in Rome and takes care of all RWS projects towards Italian from several source Languages. It is composed of 70 employees, Office Director, Talent Manager, Administration, translators and language leads.

 

About The Role:

RWS Italy is currently looking for 1 full-time native Italian Seniore Language Specialist to add to its in house Life science team for Eng>Ita projects. Full-time one-year contract.

 

 

Responsibilities:

Provides high quality and accurate translations and linguistic services on large and complex projects and accounts. Frequently reviews, edits and/or proofs the work done by other Language Specialists. Performs the function of lead Language Specialist (planning and managing the work of in-house and freelance translators, quality assurance (QA), and providing linguistic support to the project manager) to ensure high levels of client satisfaction on large and complex projects.       Delivers Quality, Value, Results – Applies advanced functional and domain skills in establishing and maintaining high standards of linguistic and organizational effectiveness. As a lead Language Specialist, proactively manages the workload/scheduling of project Language Specialists, addresses issues, and works closely with the project manager to ensure the highest quality project deliverables.     Relationship Building – Collaborates within the translation function and with other organizations to enhance language services and contribute to overall organizational goals. Develops positive customer relationships by fully understanding the customer’s requirements, being responsive to changes, and demonstrating a sense of urgency. Team Leading – May perform various people management responsibilities. The specific responsibilities and the time allocated to each are determined on a case-by-case basis based on business needs. Typically, the more senior the role, the greater amount of people management responsibilities and allocated time.

Requirements:

• Education: University degree in Translation or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience: Typically requires minimum of 5-8 years related experience in the localization sector among which 3-5 years in the life science domain

• Main working language: English (a second language would be preferable too)

• Technical competence: Independent Trados Studio user
• Attention to Quality and Detail
• Follows processes, placing a priority on how things are done
• Critical thinkers who learn and adapt to the acquisition of new knowledge with ease
• Past or current experience as Project Manager in LSP or agencies are relevant
• Written Communication: expresses ideas clearly in email, reports, letters and other documents
• Translation competence: ability to translate life science content to render the target language content in accordance with the quality standard required
• Linguistic and textual competence in the source language and the target language: ability to understand the source language, fluency in the target language, and general or specialized knowledge of text-type conventions
• Competence in research, information acquisition, and processing
• Cultural competence
• Domain competence: ability to understand content produced in the source language and to reproduce it in the target language using the appropriate style and terminology. Knowledge of the RegLab sector is a plus
