Job Description

The Senior Learning Experience Designer is a part of a global cross-functional team in the Quality, Training, and Risk Management team. Working under minimal supervision, or as part of a team, the Senior Learning Experience Designer will lead learning development projects with a moderate degree of complexity, typically more than one deliverable, and a large scope. The individual in this role will partner with global stakeholders to develop and implement learning solutions to enhance organizational capabilities, reinforce AstraZeneca processes, and enable regulatory compliance.

The Senior Learning Experience Designer will conduct learning needs analysis, conduct user research, determine appropriate learning methodologies to close knowledge and skill gaps, and design, prototype, develop, test, deliver, and evaluate the effectiveness of learning solutions. They will work with internal and external experts to support the development of learning solutions, and must be comfortable interacting with Senior Leaders. The Senior Learning Experience Designer will also ensure that learning solutions are assigned and tracked in the Learning Management System (LMS) when appropriate.

As an experienced training professional, the individual in this role will support colleagues by providing coaching and mentoring on Learning Needs Analysis, Instructional Design, User Research, and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • Conduct Learning Needs Analysis with stakeholders to identify skill and knowledge gaps and define learning objectives
  • Work with cross-functional teams to collaboratively and rapidly design, prototype, develop, test, deliver, and evaluate learning solutions
  • Determine approach, modalities, and resource requirements for learning projects
  • Identify the subject matter expertise that is required to develop learning solutions, and involve SMEs or other external resources as appropriate
  • Manage end-to-end project planning across multiple parallel projects
  • Develop and implement change management strategies for projects
  • Collaborate with Scientific Learning team members to define best practices, maintain existing courseware, formulate appropriate program evaluation methods and ensure learning solutions are tracked in the LMS, as appropriate
  • Analyze evaluation data for learning solutions, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree with sufficient experience in learning and development in a corporate environment

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years instructional design, development, and learning project management experience
  • Proven understanding of Adult Learning Principles, Learning Needs Analysis, Instructional Design and Development, and Design Thinking
  • Proficiency in common learning development tools, such as but not limited to PowerPoint, Articulate 360, and Adobe Captivate
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Skilled in Project Management methodologies (including Agile)
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of eLearning communication protocols (SCORM, xAPI, AICC), and Learning Management Systems is beneficial
  • Experience within biotech, pharmaceutical, or similarly regulated industries

Understanding of the drug development process within an R&D environment
