Established in 2000, the Department (http://www.LN.edu.hk/cultural/) offers a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Cultural Studies with a strong interdisciplinary orientation. It also admits postgraduate research students leading to the award of MPhil and PhD degrees. Since 2003, it has been offering a self-financed taught programme leading to the Master degree of Cultural Studies.

The appointee will be required to take up teaching and other duties relating to courses offered by the Department during normal term time. He/She is expected to have a strong background in Cultural Studies with an inter-Asia emphasis and should have proven ability to teach in three or more of the following areas: gender and sexuality, creativity and creative thinking, popular culture, commodity and material cultures.

General Requirements

Applicants should have a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field of studies and at least 3-4 years of relevant experience in teaching at the tertiary level. All applicants are required to provide evidence of quality teaching.

Appointment

The conditions of appointment will be competitive. Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointee. Appointment will be normally made on a fixed-term contract of up to two years.
