As part of the Ethernet Networking Division in Intel's Data Platforms Group (DPG), we're looking for motivated, passionate, and talented senior software engineers to join our Ethernet driver development and technology pathfinding team. We're a strong, vibrant cross-site team which helps drive Intel® Ethernet technology and products to position Intel® X86 Encoder Decoder (Intel® XED) as the server platform of choice and Intel® Ethernet products as Ethernet of choice for the Cloud, Communications and Data Center deployments.
You will dive deep into the development of Linux Ethernet driver and Linux Kernel's networking stack to deliver it for the Ethernet hardware and Intel® architecture server platforms. You will analyze network performance in distributed application environments and drive new features in Ethernet driver, kernel Ethernet stacks and Intel® Ethernet products. The successful incumbent will have an excellent opportunity to shape the future Ethernet features in Intel platforms and Ethernet products. In addition, you will need strong verbal and written communication skills. In this position you will gain invaluable experience that will allow growth and expanded opportunities across Intel.
Qualifications
Candidates must possess the below minimum education requirement and qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Requirements listed below would be obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience, internship experiences and or schoolwork/classes/research.
Education Requirement
Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field of study.
Minimum Requirements
- 4+ years of technical development, debug, and leadership experience in the Ethernet Driver/OS domain.
- 3+ years of experience in Intel® architecture (IA) and embedded environments (Linux Kernel/Driver/Open-Source Development).
- 2+ years of experience with Linux Kernel development with an emphasis on the network stack and related interfaces (sockets layer, protocol layer, device layer, network virtualization, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field of study.
- 1+ years' of experience with TCP/IP, UDP/IP, VxLAN, NVGRE, NSH, OpenVSwitch, libevent, epoll, etc.
- 1+ years' of experience with network benchmarks and performance evaluation methods.

Work Model for this Role
This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
