Job Title:             Junior Software Developer - Localization Engineer

Experience Level – Entry level

We are looking for a Junior Software Developer with strong scripting skills in C#, Visual Basic, Javascript, Python or similar coding tool to join one of our Localization Engineering team and support them in the processes’ automation.

About The Role:

Localization Engineers are technically skilled, highly experienced individuals with a desire to troubleshoot and create solutions for technical production issues including TM management, script development for data manipulation, automation and defining strategies for project executions.

The successful candidate is a team player who thrives in a fast-paced work environment, working alongside our Localization Engineers and Technology Project Managers to develop creative solutions for handling complicated files and workflows.

S/he is self-motivated to learn and become an expert in localization and our company’s technology products.

Possible to lead projects, this position also requires good organizational, man-management and communication skills.

If you are have the motivation for the role but do not have the required experience we are willing to have you onboard with a training stage.

Responsibilities:

• Provide daily, project-based technical support to production and sales departments
• Facilitate company-wide technology rollouts
• Assist project managers and linguists in troubleshooting issues related to the translation process
• Validate new features in our CAT tool, TM Server and Analysis Package products
• Provide support for TMS related requests
• Management of Translation Memories (TMs)
• Analysis of web sites and applications for localization potential, identifying key points to be considered during the localization process
• Automation of file analysis, parsing, and filtering
• Write scripts and/or macros in various programming languages to automate repetitive tasks
• Prepare various file types for the localization process (including re-coding and script writing as needed) to ensure compliance with clients’ requirements and integrity of data
• Collaborate with project managers, internal sales, and customers to provide input during pre-sale planning of projects and enterprise engagements
• Provide quotes on new, large-scale projects for sales and production upon request
• Work closely with Software Product Managers to:
• Collect user stories from product stakeholders
• Define new features and improvements of the software products
• Provide test cases for QA
• Provide documentation and training to product users
• Report and test fixes for bugs found by product users
• Train and mentor junior team members
• Perform other special projects or duties when required

Requirements:

• Fluency in English.
• At least 6 months of experience in Software Development roles.
• Interest in becoming a Software Localization Engineer.
• Expert knowledge of computer, scripting, and markup languages including (but not necessarily all of) VB, VBA, C#, Perl, ASP, Javascript, JSP, XML, HTML, XLIFF
• Expert level proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe software, Internet software
• Knowledge of Translation Memory/CAT Tools (RWS Trados, MemoQ, Star Transit…) will be an asset.
• Knowledge of Software Localization tools (Passolo, Catalyst, Silk) will be an asset.
• Avid curiosity and desire to improve processes
• Minimum Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent
