Let’s do this! Let’s change the world. In this vital role Amgen is seeking a Senior Manager, External/SEC Reporting to join our Accounting team. The Senior Manager, External/SEC Reporting. This role manages the external reporting process and is responsible for the preparation of Amgen’s SEC filings (10K, 10Qs, 8-Ks, etc.). The role is also responsible for ensuring GAAP and SEC reporting requirements are met for significant and/or non-routine transactions. The position will report to the Director, Consolidation and SEC Reporting and will assist in providing thought leadership and current standard methodologies surrounding external reporting issues globally.

Primary Responsibilities for this role include:

• Manage the preparation and review of Amgen’s SEC filings (10K, 10Qs, 8-Ks, etc.), including setting up and organizing drafting meetings
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
• Ensure key stakeholders (including, but not limited to, the Chief Accounting Officer, leadership within Accounting Operations, and Amgen’s independent auditors) are aligned on the accounting and disclosure reported in Amgen’s external filings
• Collaborate with different business functions and teams to gather and report information on routine and non-routing transactions
• Ensure optimization of the external reporting process and integration to the accounting close process
• Monitor, assess, and document the potential impact of new accounting standards and assist with setting Amgen’s global accounting policies
• Assist with the preparation and review of Amgen’s 11-k filings and annual proxy statement

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Accounting Reporting and SEC Reporting experience

Or

Master’s degree and 6 years of Accounting Reporting and SEC Reporting experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of Accounting Reporting and SEC Reporting experience

Or

Associate’s degree and 10 years of Accounting Reporting and SEC Reporting experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Accounting Reporting and SEC Reporting experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• 4+ years of Big 4 or other large national audit firm experience in the application of US GAAP to acquisitions, valuations, partnerships and licensing transactions
• Progressive accounting / finance experience, including corporate level public company experience
• Strong technical skills including US GAAP and SEC reporting
• Meticulous and strong business analytical skills
• Ability to work in cross-functional team environment
• Strong written and verbal communication, as well as presentation skills
• Successful previous experience interfacing confidently and successfully with all levels of management within the organization
• CPA
• MBA
