How will you make an impact?
 

Our Protein and Cellular Analysis business team is seeking an industry experienced Senior Manager to lead the development of consumables for flow cytometry research, as both a subject matter expert and as a team leader. It is expected that candidates will have first hand knowledge of protein conjugation chemistry and downstream purification operations. Product development from concept to commercialization and management of collaborations with research and manufacturing organizations are desirable experiences. The role will reside in Carlsbad, CA.


What you will do?

  • ​Lead a collaborative chemistry team for the development and commercialization of antibody-dye conjugates and other reagents for flow cytometry, meeting or exceeding customer expectations.

  • Serve as a leader and mentor for scientists in the laboratory regarding technical knowledge, work ethic, and attitude.

  • Coordinate research from academic literature and industry practices and processes and apply to innovative product designs that complement instrument and software features.

  • Make data-driven recommendations and lead a team of scientists; may lead multiple projects, including developing and managing realistic project proposals, timelines, and deliverables

  • Guide and advise during implementation of new methodologies and processes, including automation and .

  • Be a liaison with internal product and program management, scientific, manufacturing, quality, and laboratory functional areas across sites and business units to ensure business processes are efficient.

  • Investigate, evaluate, and recommend the purchase of laboratory equipment.

  • Perform all duties in strict compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and Safety guidelines.

Education/Experience
PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or related physical science.

Typically requires 6 years of progressive scientific experience (9 years in a related life sciences field, pharmaceutical experience preferred). Minimum of 5 years of management experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Proven excellence in the chemistry of antibody-dye bioconjugation for flow cytometry reagents and an understanding of product development challenges.

Strong ability to collaborate and influence within a matrix organization.

Demonstrated expertise in optimizing and qualifying antibody conjugation and purification techniques.

Experience managing team(s) and collaborations in the development of new products.

Proven ability to train and develop team members to handle product development projects within agreed timelines.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

Excellent critical and logical thinking skills

Effective written, interpersonal, and presentation skills, including managing technical discussions with internal and external clients. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

Ability to keep current with scientific literature and industry trends and to develop scientific knowledge, skills, and technical solutions in automation and flow cytometry research applications, instrumentation, and software
