AstraZeneca Canada Inc. is looking for a Senior Manager, Communications, reporting directly to the Director, Corporate Communications. The successful candidate will be responsible for building and implementing communications strategies in support of AstraZeneca’s Oncology therapy area, our Canadian Sustainability strategy, and other key internal and external communication priorities.

In particular, the Senior Manager, Communications will:

  • Act as the senior communications lead to our Women’s Cancers and Hematology portfolios, where you will build and deliver successful communications plans (pre-launch, launch, and post-launch), ensuring actions and outcomes are well-aligned to key objectives.
  • Lead external communications efforts to highlight AstraZeneca’s Oncology research investments and partnerships and enhance the overall corporate profile and reputation of the company with targeted audiences.
  • Develop and execute a communications plan aimed at building employee awareness, engagement and pride in our Canadian Sustainability strategy and efforts.
  • Strengthen our external corporate social media and digital presence.
  • Successfully lead the development and delivery of key change and internal engagement communications plans.
  • Develop and implement issues management strategies and plans as required.
  • Provide senior-level counsel to senior leaders in Marketing, Government Relations, Scientific Affairs and the Executive Team on communications matters. Collaborate closely with Stakeholder Relations colleagues to support relationships with key patient groups and other influencing partners.
  • Actively manage day-to-day relationships with external vendors, third-party groups, key customers and other audiences to implement internal, external and marketing communications programs.

Qualifications:

  • Eight to ten years in a corporate and/or consultant communications environment.
  • Experience and demonstrated skills in developing, managing and delivering communications strategies and plans in a complex organization.
  • Strong, senior-level knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry or health care is required.
  • Ability to operate effectively on large cross-functional teams, as well as lead by influence and collaborate.
  • Strong experience in social and digital media, media relations and issues management.
  • Excellent written, spoken, and interpersonal communication skills, with attention to detail.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, to adapt to change and move projects forward quickly.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and planning skills.
  • Collaboratively works well with a diverse group of people
  • Self-starter with demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit, enthusiasm and creativity.
