Senior Manager Design

As a Senior Manager Design at Rolls Royce Power System, you will be responsible of typical managing tasks of the design engineering team, e.g. capacity planning, scheduling, etc., supervision of members of the design engineering team, responsible for all design activities within MTU China Engineering department, design responsibility covers the whole engine, incl. core components, fluid- , air- and combustion systems, etc., sustaining engineering for current and future local products, driving of localization initiatives together with testing team and project management and new product initiative as well as adoption of products to customer needs.

Key Accountabilities:

Engine design and development management

  • Coordinate development process for key components of diesel engine (base engine, gear train, power unit and cylinder head).
  • Mechanical design for diesel engine oil systems, cooling systems and lubrication systems in accordance with company guidelines, drawings and drafts considering application, cost, performance, manufacture, assembly and service
  • Architecture and generation of concept designs and functional allocation of subsystem requirements to components; and/or development of subsystem interface agreements, installation / application guidelines and quality assurance procedures.
  • Evaluate adaptability of new engineering technologies/processes; Define requirements and specifications for parts/components/assemblies and systems; Evaluate availability of parts/components required for development; Track and evaluate development progress.
  • Develop design proposals and project plan in accordance with time schedule, cost and other resources to ensure performance and success in development process, project management and controlling.
  • Interact with stakeholders, such as team members, engineers from other teams, technical managers, project leaders, product and manufacturing engineers, and supplier partners to identify and implement preventive and corrective actions; Support procurement in identifying suppliers and contracting.

Team members supervision

  • Set tasks and targets based on design requirements; Coach team members; Review team work output and deliver feedback to team members

Key Experiences and any Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in an accredited Engineering, Internal Combustion Engines, Thermal Energy, Vehicle Engineering or equivalent.
  • Min. 10 years working experience in the field of engine design, mechanical design or comparable field; min. 5 years of team leading experience within areas of design engineering.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design development procedure, strong understanding of design, molding, processing technology, test standards, etc of base engine, gear train, power unit and cylinder head.
  • Familiar with industry standards, rules and regulations, such as DIN, ISO, and so on; advanced skills in Pro-E, Auto CAD to create 3D/2D models and drawings.
  • Good communication ability and coordination skills, can analysis and solve the relevant issue accurately and timely.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English and Mandarin in work environment.
