In this position within Amgen’s Worldwide Compliance & Business Ethics (WC&BE) function focuses on the internal control framework including investigations and risk assessment/mitigation. The WC&BE Senior Manager will be responsible for leading/conducting triage and investigation activities related to financial issues. This individual will report to the Director of WC&BE Investigations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead investigator for global financial-issue investigations, including issues related to procurement, expense reports, and financial records/reports. The investigator will also handle investigators involving healthcare compliance issues, as capacity permits.
  • Leading a cross-functional process to prioritize and track all reports of potential financial-issue noncompliance.
  • Conducting investigations, including interviewing witnesses, gathering and analyzing records, reaching conclusions and, as needed, conducting a root cause analysis to ensure appropriate corrective action is identified.
  • Liaison with other investigations teams at Amgen, including Human Resources.
  • Overseeing, and coordinating the activities of, third parties that conduct investigations on behalf of Amgen (such as outside counsel or external investigative services firms).
  • Preparing written summaries, preparing reports and conducting briefings with WC&BE and Corporate Audit leadership, and cross-functional regional and affiliate partners.
  • Identifying and helping to implement continuous improvement opportunities resulting from investigations findings.
  • Streamline and enhance the use of data analytics in financial investigations by implementing standardized work programs, building standardized data pulls and analytic reports from various systems (SAP, Concur and Ariba).
  • As the need arises, travel locally or internationally to conduct investigations/transaction/process reviews.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Finance/Fraud/Audit experience

Or

Master’s degree and 4 years of Finance/Fraud/Audit experience

Or

Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of Finance/Fraud/Audit experience

Or

Associate’s degree and 10 years of Finance/Fraud/Audit experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Finance/Fraud/Audit experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Progressive experience in any of the following, or any combination of the following: fraud investigation, auditing, compliance, accounting, finance, business administration
  • Expert knowledge of auditing concepts and practices
  • External audit (e.g., Big 4) and/or internal audit (e.g., Fortune 500) experience
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information obtained in the conduct of investigations
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), including the ability to effectively and confidently interact with Amgen senior mid-level management and staff level employees.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, and data analytic software (tableau or Alteryx or ACL)
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)
