Role
As Senior Manager (Education) is responsible for developing and implementing the Institute’s education and professional development policies, including the HKIA/ARB Professional Assessment, Non-Local Architectural Professionals Admission, accreditation visits to local schools, liaison with international professional registration bodies of architects, Assessment of Technical Competence for Affiliates and Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
This post is expected to proactively assist the Chief Operating Officer in ensuring that the Council’s policies and directions are carried out effectively and efficiently, in the raising the standing of the Professional Assessment and accreditation system and enhancing the professionalism of HKIA members.
(a) reviewing the current local architectural programmes and HKIA/ARB Accreditation System holistically;
(b) formulating and implement the 10 years road map for the reform of the Professional Assessment;
(c) managing and monitor the system development for the areas on Professional Assessment and membership with an outside vendor;
(d) ensuring the efficient provision of technical and secretarial support to the Board of Educational Affairs and its committees and working groups;
(e) seeking wide recognition of the professional architectural qualification locally and internationally;
(f) promoting HKIA membership as a leading professional qualification in Hong Kong;
(g) providing good customer services to membership applicants and registered students;
(h) acting as technical adviser to the Board of Educational Affairs, relevant committees, ad hoc working groups or task forces set up by the Council to fulfil specific functions, including the preparation of research or consultation papers on qualification and education related subjects;
(i) dealing with queries from members and any other interested parties, drafting press releases and responding to questions from the media on matters falling within the scope of responsibilities of the Board;
(j) liaising with universities, employers, members, students, professional bodies, government, regulators and other stakeholders in connection with matters relating to the Institute, and specifically in the areas of education and qualification;
(k) keeping abreast of educational and other relevant developments in the architectural profession worldwide and liaise with overseas professional bodies on international developments;
(l) directing, managing and supervising staff working in the Board; and
(m) undertaking such other duties as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer from time to time.
Requirements:
Master / Bachelor degree from a recognized university with good command of English and Chinese;
- Self-motivated, strong sense of responsibility, detailed minded, team player with good interpersonal and communication skills, and able to work in a fast-paced working environment independently;
- Experience in secretarial support to Board or Committee work and event management a definite advantage;
- Candidate with less experience would be considered for Manager.
