How will you make an impact?

The Sr. Manager Operations (Biologist) oversees all aspects of biological sample handling requirements for the management and operation at the CDC Biorepository.
  • Ensure staff adherence to established SOPs and ESH requirements.
  • Support client and management team to continuously improve laboratory and sample processing SOPs.
  • Plan activities and scheduling for lab staff performing the following duties:
  • Handling biological specimens at appropriate cryogenic temperatures throughout the specimen life cycle.
  • Specimen inventory management to include receipt, storage, and distribution between CDC campuses.
  • Quality control tasks associated with specimen management and cryogenic equipment.
  • Monitoring and maintaining cryogenic storage equipment and environmental monitoring system.
 
How will you get there? 
  • Bachelors degree in Biology with 10+ years experience working in a repository environment, handling and manipulating biological samples, and working with cryogenic storage systems and mechanical ultra-low temperature storage units. Masters preferred.
  •  Ten years of experience in material handling in biological, chemical, and/or pharmaceutical repository operations.
  • Working knowledge of a inventory management databases (Labvantage preferred).

 
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
