What you’ll do
As a member of our Value, Access and Policy team, you will report to the Head of Pricing, Contracting and Negotiations and will be accountable for identifying and executing pricing strategies for your portfolio of products, ensuring external compliance of our Canadian product portfolio with the Patented Medicine Prices Review Board guidelines and regulations as well as our internal compliance with our processes and controls.
You provide expertise, leadership and guidance through process improvement, interactive communication and decision-maker engagement and management. You build a variety of strategies, support scenario analysis as part of the market access and brand planning process, and provide insights and guidance on emerging trends, challenges and opportunities in the pricing, contracting and related market access areas aligned to our strategic direction.
In this role, your subject matter expertise will be used for the following:
Product Pricing Strategies for Tendered and Loss of Exclusivity Brands
Lead RFP and tendering processes for Group Purchasing Organization and other key agencies as required for your portfolio of products including FluMist and/or other vaccines, established brands and emerging tendered brands.s
Lead the building and implementation of pricing strategies and scenarios designed to maximize commercial contribution for your portfolio of products
Build and review financial models supporting proposed pricing strategies for products as they approach loss of exclusivity, or provide pricing support for divestitures
Responsible for securing local and global approval for product portfolio price strategies
Pricing Compliance and Monitoring
Provide subject matter expertise to the pricing team as well as the local and global organization on Canadian pricing regulations and requirements for all emerging and existing products
Identify and lead organization through implementation of any changes required based on changes to pricing environment (local or global)
Manage pricing compliance requirements locally and globally including PMPRB reporting, monitoring and issues management
Work with the function Head, team members, Legal, Regulatory, Forecasting, Finance, and the business unit to resolve issues and initiate steps to prevent future problem
Build key external relationships and/or partnerships with PMPRB, consultants and other access or industry bodies related to pricing regulations and requirements
Ensure internal alignment to pricing controls and processes. Identify and implement process improvements.
Contract Management and Invoicing Process Oversight
Provide strategic guidance to Value, Access and Policy team related to evaluation of contract terms and conditions and contract negotiations
Manage and support contracting framework within AstraZeneca Canada, provide guidance and leadership in the application and execution of the contracting management framework and actively participate in the process
Monitor contract and program performance by reviewing and analysing data, including SOX validation; use this analysis as the basis of recommendations for future contracts and programs
Evaluate, recommend and implement standard methodologies for contracting and invoicing processes
Act as Dotted Line Manager for Pricing Managers who support contracting and invoicing
You will also:
Monitor and report societal and industry developments that impact AstraZeneca
Anticipate changes internally and externally effectively to drive positive outcomes for the organization
Communicate complex issues and challenges clearly and appropriately to internal and external partners
Participate, collaborate with and lead cross functional teams within the organization
Your Qualifications Include
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or life sciences
Minimum of 5 years related pharmaceutical industry experience
Strong working knowledge of PMPRB guidelines, regulations, reporting and issues management
Experience working with GPOs and tendered products including vaccines and/or brands that have lost exclusivity
Working knowledge and understanding of international pricing environments (e.g., PMPRB11 countries)
Understanding of contracting and tendering processes, contract requirements and review processes
You seek to understand and be knowledgeable of Canadian reimbursement system, structures and key industry players
Strong interpersonal, communication and time management, prioritization skills and attention to detail.
You are a long term critical problem solver, highly solutions oriented and outcomes driven
You enjoy working with all levels of the organization and can influence across the enterprise
As a strong teammate, you enjoy collaborating with a broad set of individuals
Excellent oral, written, and analytical skills with demonstrated experience required in scenario planning, decision-making and solution development
