Reporting to the Director of Pricing, Contracting and Negotiations, will be accountable for building and executing pricing strategies to ensure regulatory compliance of our Canadian product portfolio with the Patented Medicine Prices Review Board (PMPRB) guidelines and regulations.
You provide expertise, leadership and guidance through process improvement, interactive communication and decision-maker engagement and management. You build a variety of strategies, support scenario analysis as part of the market access and brand planning process, and provide new insights and guidance on emerging trends, challenges and opportunities aligned to our strategic direction.
Responsibilities:
Pricing Compliance and Monitoring
- Provides expertise to the pricing team as well as the local and global organization on Canadian pricing regulations and requirements for all emerging and existing products on both gross/list and net prices
- Identifies and leads organization through implementation of any changes required based on changes to pricing environment and policies (local or global)
- Manages pricing compliance requirements locally and globally including PMPRB reporting, monitoring and issues management
- Works with the Director, team members, Legal, Regulatory, Forecasting, Finance, and the business unit to resolve issues and initiates steps to prevent future problem
- Build key external relationships and/or partnerships with PMPRB, consultants and other access or industry bodies related to pricing
Product Pricing Strategy
- Leads and/or supports the building and implementation of pricing strategies and scenarios designed to maximize commercial contribution in collaboration with the Senior Pricing Managers and your Director for portfolio of products.
- Consults across AZ portfolio of emerging products as PMPRB subject matter expert to provide insights on potential regulatory and HTA implications to pricing as well as potential mitigation strategies
- Builds and reviews financial models supporting proposed pricing strategies
- Responsible for securing approval for product portfolio price strategies
- Leading RFP and tendering processes as required
Contract Management and Influence
- Provides strategic guidance to Patient Access team related to evaluation of contract terms and conditions and contract negotiations
- Leads and supports contracting framework with AstraZeneca Canada, provides guidance and leadership in the application and execution of the contracting management framework and actively participates in the process
- Monitors contract and program performance by reviewing and analyzing data; uses this analysis as the basis of recommendations for future contracts and programs

- Communicate complex issues and challenges clearly and appropriately to internal and external partners
- Participate, collaborate with and lead cross functional teams within the organization
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, life sciences or quantitative focus
- Minimum of 5 years related pharmaceutical industry experience, preferably in positions requiring handling of pricing and/or financial data
- Strong working knowledge of PMPRB guidelines, regulations, reporting and issues resolution
- Seek to understand and be knowledgeable of Canadian reimbursement system, structures and key industry players
- Working knowledge and understanding of international pricing environments, IRP and their implications
- Understanding of contracting and tendering processes, contract requirements and review processes
- Strong interpersonal, communication and time management and prioritization skills.
- Long-term critical problem solver, highly solutions oriented and outcomes driven
- Enjoy working with all levels of the organization and can influence across the enterprise
- As a strong teammate, you enjoy collaborating with a broad set of individuals
- Excellent oral, written, and analytical skills with demonstrated experience required in scenario planning, decision-making and solution development
- Experience working in vaccines or brands that have lost exclusivity is an asset
