Job Description

The Corporate External and Legal Affairs Department (CELA) has an immediate opening for a Senior Manager, Digital Platforms and Strategy in the Public Affairs team based in Redmond, WA.

 

This role is a key member of the Campaigns and Field Enablement (CAFE) team which forms part of the broader Public Affairs function in CELA. The CAFE team serve as a knowledge center for information sharing, capacity building, and campaign counsel for the international field community and Redmond-based business partner for the development and syndication of targeted marketing resources and image-enhancing assets. In addition to these responsibilities, the CAFE team works with groups across the CELA department and the broader company to develop and execute high impact policy-based campaigns that are strategically aligned to the Microsoft mission and business objectives. We are looking for an experienced and high performing digital strategy professional to join our team.

Moreover, we are looking for someone who can help develop effective channel strategies of a range of digital properties that serve the CELA department and provide a critical communication channel to stakeholders all over the world.

Responsibilities

The CAFE team works is highly matrixed, cross-functional and collaborative and this role requires skills and capabilities to engage effectively with a variety of different internal stakeholders across a diversity of disciplines and cultures. This position will work in close collaboration with key internal partners in the CELA including Microsoft Philanthropies and Technology Corporate Responsibility to achieve Microsoft’s business, policy, program and partnership objectives. Key responsibilities include:

 

Digital Platform Management:

  • Drive digital rhythm of the business through workflow processes and performance reporting.
  • Partner with MSCOM for site management and operations across a portfolio of sites.
  • Analyze website performance data using Adobe Analytics and provide data-driven insights and recommendations for platform optimizations to platform owners and stakeholders.
  • Provide documentation and best practices maintaining and managing the platforms.
  • Define and document requirements and develop execution plans for new sites and initiatives.
  • Support existing internal team online/digital platforms and channels.

 

Digital Marketing Strategy:

  • Manage digital marketing activities across channels from strategy to execution.
  • Partner with program marketing leads in the develop of overall marketing plans to drive programmatic objectives including defining proposed digital KPIS and objectives.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with other marketing managers, PR managers and program teams to establish a fully aligned and orchestrated digital marketing strategy.
  • Provide digital marketing excellence by connecting the team with the Microsoft best practices and compliance policies around digital platforms and strategy including web and social.
  • Lead social strategy and execution across multiple CELA channels as required.
  • Act as a Microsoft brand steward and ensure GDPR compliance, adherence to Microsoft Accessibility Standards and diversity and inclusion principles in all executions.
  • Work to better integrate the internal platforms supporting our field teams and how they can leverage existing external platforms and content.

 

Field Enablement:

  • Provide resources and best practices to field teams to help enable local digital marketing.
  • Assist in the localization of websites and content to enable field team campaign execution.
  • Provide local feedback and insights to Redmond-based stakeholders.
  • Align local marketing activities to modern marketing platforms and processes.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following attributes:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in corporate public affairs, integrated marketing, communications, or public policy.
  • Exceptional abilities and skills in digital marketing including technical experience working with content management systems, web development, and SEO tools.
  • Proven experience in project management, negotiating and group facilitation skills.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex issues and provide digital solutions to complex business problems and requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills and examples of balancing competing projects and priorities.
  • Must possess a strong sense of diplomacy, empathy and necessary interpersonal skills to influence and engage in small and/or large group settings, including communications with high-level Microsoft executives and senior external stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, as well as a strong client service focus, business acumen and the ability to work efficiently, prioritize workflow.
  • Self-directed and ability to work in a cross-group and highly matrixed organization.
  • A strong record of being a team player, dedicated to collective success with the ability to promote cooperation and problem solve in a timely, creative and professional manner.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity in a fast-paced environment, and to adapt to rapidly changing environments and demands with professional maturity.
  • A passion for technology and the ability of technology to change the world and knowledge of the high technology industry and self-proclaimed techie is strongly preferred.
  • A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or related field is preferred.
