Senior Manager (Ref. 20050606-IE)

The Institutional Research and Planning Office (IRPO) provides leadership and support to the Senior Management in strategic and institutional planning through effective use of data analytics and business intelligence. Duties

The appointee will supervise the team and be responsible for:

(a) identifying and leading the exploration of insightful and actionable institutional research through thorough understanding of the strategic priorities of the University and networking with a wide array of stakeholders;

(b) formulating solutions for University initiatives and continuous enhancement by sourcing data, developing and performing in-depth analyses, and composing institutional research reports on topics including institutional activities and performance, institutional effectiveness, and benchmarking among others, etc.;

(c) collaborating across units and preparing data submissions for international rankings; 

(d) presenting complex ideas, techniques, and analytic findings effectively to stakeholders; and 

(e) perform any other duties as assigned by the Management of the University and/or their delegates. 

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a) a recognised degree, preferably with a postgraduate degree, in Statistics, Computer Science or a related discipline;
at least ten years of solid and relevant post-qualification experience,

(b) with at least eight years of which at managerial level, preferably in tertiary institutions or public organisations;

(c) expertise in the use of analytics tools such as QlikView, Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, etc.;

(d) advanced knowledge of external data platforms such as Scopus, SciVal, Pure, WoS, Incites, QSIU, DataPoints+;

(e) excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to perform duties of marked complexity requiring independent analysis and evaluation;

(f) have good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels; and

(g) have a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.  

Remuneration and Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
