To cope with its strategic development and enhance its societal and industrial impact with the goal of maximizing the research impact of the Institute, HKUST Big Data Institute (BDI) is looking for a Senior Manager (Research & Development) to provide leadership and devise strategies to seek connections between BDI and industry and government, facilitate establishment of new research projects and their execution; assist in funding applications; partnership development with industry, university, government, and research sectors; as well as promote and help identify opportunities for technology transfer.

Applicants should have a PhD degree in Engineering, preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Information Engineering or Big Data related disciplines with at least 4 years of research and working experience in leading and managing R&D projects. Relevant work experience in MNCs in technology field, R&D institutes, associations, science parks or industrial parks is a plus. They should have experience in establishing collaboration with industry, government offices and/or universities; be familiar with the funding schemes covering Hong Kong and Mainland China, and possess some experience in working with industries for technology transfer or product development. They should have high proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua), especially in technical writing; strong critical thinking, analytical and communication skills; and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Cultural awareness of business practices covering the Greater Bay Area would be an asset. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
