Job Summary

The Manager or Sr. Manager (will be decided case by case), In-Field Excellence will be part of the JAPAC regional Commercial Excellence team reporting to the Head of Commercial Excellence and BAI. The successful candidate will oversee the regional build of advanced field capabilities and will be the crucial link between the regional Driving Excellence initiatives and the combined AMGEN JAPAC field forces covering >USD 1 Bn in sales.

Role description

STRATEGY

  • Co-Create the next wave of in-field excellence initiatives with global experts, regional senior management and affiliate level decision makers
  • Partner with the cross-functional team to prioritize change projects and deliver on the quarterly Driving Excellence roadmap
  • Partner across cDNA, Field Excellence, IS, external partners, and the business to build and execute key strategic pilots (test and learn environment with KPI tracking across all)
  • Author playbooks and white papers on in-field best practices

OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE

  • Partner with GMs and Sales Directors across affiliates to drive deployment and embedding of key in-field excellence initiatives
  • Coach and develop affiliate leadership teams to keep up with latest industry practices and technologies
  • Co-create and maintain in-field excellence dashboards and drive continuous improvement through transparency and dialogues with in-market decision makers and frontline staff
  • Partner with Learning and Performance to bring in-field execution capabilities to the next level

Basic Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree and 2 years of marketing, sales management and/or project management experience

OR

  • Master’s degree and 4 years of marketing, sales management and/or project management experience

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of marketing, sales management and/or project management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Self-starter with an outstanding sense of accountability and exceptional project management skills who can work independently and thrives in a fast paced environment where change is the only certainty
  • 2 plus years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
  • Experience in a top tier management consulting firm is a plus
  • Solid knowledge of SFE processes and analytics (Sales compensation, call achievement, territory design and management, S&T, rep-led profiling and Sales Resource Optimization (SRO) a big plus
  • Strategic planning and analytical experience
  • Strong understanding and applied knowledge of sales data and market research data sources
  • Sales/sales leadership experience is strongly preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work effectively across the matrix
  • Excellent written, analytical and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with CRM systems (especially Veeva) is a strong preference
  • Very strong PowerPoint and Excel skills, including direct experience using these skills in professional setting
