We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Senior Manager Tax Transparency Asia Pacific. 

In this role, you will

  • Ensure HSBC Tax Transparency risk management and control framework is effectively deployed as part of the HSBC Global Standards to ensure HSBC's services are not associated with any arrangements which are known or suspected to be designed to facilitate tax evasion by customers and whoever is acting for and on behalf of HSBC.
  • Interpret legislative and regulatory requirements to enable its practical or pragmatic applications within banking environments.
  • Provide commercial and pragmatic business advice and recommendations regarding Tax Transparency related issues escalated via the operating models such as onboarding, ongoing periodic or triggering event reviews and other financial crime risk referrals, and to assist line of business FCC and business stakeholders resolving the issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Proactively manage the upskilling initiatives and provide subject matter expert advice on tax transparency risk management to stakeholders of FCC and other Compliance's sub functions in country and at the region.
  • Proactively manage risks including anticipate and escalate risks and issues for senior stakeholders attention. 
  • Protect the reputation of HSBC organization and businesses in the jurisdictions in which it operates. 

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following requirements 

  • Significant years of experience and overall industry experience is desirable in areas such as banking, financial services, insurance and professional services
  • Specifically, a qualified tax professional with deep subject matter expertise in anti tax evasion risk and customer tax reporting advisory, ideally gained from international professional service firms or large financial institutions
  • Consideration will also be given to good candidates with lesser experience.
  • Strong advisory skills with excellent engagement at senior stakeholder levels. Candidate background may include business, tax, governance, risk and compliance within consulting or industry
  • Demonstrated ability to help deliver change and sustain ongoing compliance in regulatory, complex matrix, distributed and multi disciplinary team environments within regional and global advisory or financial services organisations.
  • Familiar with banking operating models such process, controls, risks for retail banking, wealth management, private banking, commercial banking and insurance
  • Regional management experience is desirable
  • Some experience with assurance reviews and audits
  • Knowledge and experience with anti money laundering and other financial crimes and operational risk management would be an advantage
  • Effective negotiator, computer literate and capable of project management and highly effective communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure to demanding deadlines
  • Self starter with excellent analytical, organisational and time management skills
