Global Procurement, Strategy and Operational Excellence team is seeking a highly driven Senior Manager - Third Party Risk to provide senior level oversight and subject matter expertise into the day to day of the supplier onboarding process. Third parties represent one of the highest risk to the company.  AstraZeneca must conduct due diligence proportionate to the risks involved in the activities in which we engage third parties to ensure they meet the standards of ethical behaviour similar to our own, avoid financial, operational or reputational impact and protect AstraZeneca’s licence to operate. 

We are looking to transform our current 3PRM process by combining cutting-edge technology and implementing a managed service capability to elevate the how we identification, assess, mitigate the risks, including applying LEAN principles to simplify our processes.

Role Summary

The Senior Manager - Third Party Risk will provide high level subject matter expertise and thought leadership in third party risk management operations. As the 3PRM team is delivering the Transformation during most part of 2021, the role will have an initial remit to support the existing process until the deployment of the 3PRM Transformation. After the 3PRM Transformation, the role will be accountable to ensure the 3PRM process works at its highest standards and with best in class performance.

Typical Accountabilities

  • Support the existing process with leadership and being the focal point of escalation related to the day to day of 3PRM (until the deployment of the 3PRM Transformation)

  • Work with Lead, and enterprise SMEs to define the risk criteria, risk appetite and ensure assessments are performed at the highest level

  • Provide senior level oversight/SME input for day to day supplier risk assessment

  • Provides SME input for all 3PRM related projects

  • Work with the Managed Services Provider (MSP) to ensure risk standards and assessments are appropriately defined and aligned with AZ overall risk appetite

  • Build strong relationships externally (e.g. participate in outreach event), to bring risk insight, best practice to AZ activities

  • Create internal networks and continued partnerships to influence consistency and standardization in risk assessment across the network

  • Provide issue management and remediation oversight through monitoring of open issues, remediation prioritization and validating appropriate ‘closure’

  • Conduct 3PRM data analytics to identify gaps and provide intelligence on risk coverage and foresight

  • Work with auditors to aid their reviews and investigations

  • Develop senior level relationships in order to resolve issues, optimize business performance and develop future improvement opportunities

  • Instill the highest standards of compliance and ethics consistently across AZ

Requirements - Essential

  • Business Degree or equivalent

  • Proven relevant experience (4 to 5 years) in third risk management

  • Proven skills and experience in working with MSPs and global processes

  • Experience in multiple key risk domain (data privacy, cyber security, anti-bribery and anti-corruption, financial due diligence or human rights)

  • Experience of managing projects or teams

  • Experience in reporting to audits or regulatory bodies

  • Experience working in a global organization where partners and team members are geographically dispersed

  • Ability to communicate and negotiate with senior management team

  • Comfort with risk and ambiguous situations

Requirements – Desirable

  • Master’s degree

  • Fluency in more than one language

  • CIPS preferred, or at least 10 years’ experience in Operations or Supply Chain related roles

  • Agile, LEAN and Six Sigma
