Senior Manager, Cloud Engineering

Our cloud offers unmatched hyper-scale, multi-tenant services deployed in more than 30 regions worldwide. OCI is expanding its mission beyond the traditional boundaries of public cloud to include private dedicated, hybrid, edge, and multicloud. To meet the multicloud needs of our customers, we are building a new team and looking for a senior engineering leader to grow it and build new services and tools to bring OCI’s next-generation cloud services to customers across a spectrum of new environments. Who are we looking for?

You’ve built and operated high-scale cloud infrastructure services and understand how to continuously improve the technology and grow the business. You have experience working with services that require data to travel long distances but must abide by compliance and regulations. You have built, grew, and managed distributed multinational teams, and owned design, delivery, and operations of a prominent public cloud service. You are technically strong and have worked on services that are highly available, scalable, and resilient. You can balance feature delivery with iteration and incremental improvements. You’ve made life easier for your engineers and have motivated your teams to make both process and service improvements. You knowhow to wear the hats of an engineering leader, product owner and project manager at the same time and get a lot done daily.

As the Senior manager of the Cloud engineering team, you will lead a team of both new and seasoned software engineers to develop the MultiCloud user experience. You will be responsible for working with Product, Support, Project Management, and Service Teams to lead development of MultiCloud products and features. You will be expected to contribute to a wide range of high-impact projects across MultiCloud including participating in UI development, testing, CI/CD, participating in scrum activities.

 

Responsibilities

• Define technical, product, operational and organizational strategy for a public cloud service.
• Lead a diverse, distributed team.
• Instill and continuously improve the culture of accountability, integrity, and high professional bar.
• Recruit top talent to grow the team capacity
• Keep stakeholders updated throughout the development cycle
• Track and report progress of the project against key milestones
• Assist direct reports with career growth and personal development
• Lead direct reports in OCI development best practices
   

Qualifications

• 3 to 5+ years of experience at senior management level.
• BS, MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar degree.
• Strong grasp of User Experience and User Interface Design.
• Experience developing with AJAX frameworks (eg. Angular, ReactJS, or Vue) preferred.
• Strong business and communication skills.
• Exceptional leadership and people management skills.
• Experience leading and successfully delivering large and complex technical projects from concept to production

We are looking for a senior leader to continue our rapid growth by managing and growing a motivated, collaborative team of top-notch cloud engineers.

OCI is expanding its mission beyond the traditional boundaries of public cloud to include private dedicated cloud, hybrid cloud, edge computing, and more. To meet the multi-cloud needs of our customers we have created a new Multicloud Services organization. We are hiring a Director of Software Development to lead our European division of this new organization. The Multicloud Services organization will build new platforms, services, and tools to bring OCI's next-generation cloud services to customers across a spectrum of new environments.

Responsibilities:

- Grow and lead multiple engineering teams totaling 50+ engineers across Europe to deliver critical services and components for the Multicloud Services organization

- Lead projects that span multiple infrastructure domains including networking, storage, and virtualization

- Provide technical direction and audit design decisions of their team

- Cultivate best practices for software development and documentation, assure designs meet requirements and deliver high-quality work on tight schedules

- Drive operational excellence for their team's areas of responsibility

- Collaborate with other team leaders on developing and presenting product roadmaps

Qualifications:

- 5+ years of experience growing and leading successful teams

- 5+ years of experience leading and successfully delivering large and complex technical projects from concept to production

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related engineering field

Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a manager of the software engineering division, you will apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and suggest improvements to the architecture.

Manages and controls activities in multi-functional areas of sections. Ensures appropriate operational planning is effectively executed to meet Corporate specifications. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
