Job Description

Microsoft Cloud Infrastructure and Operations is the team behind the cloud. MCIO is responsible for delivering over 200 Microsoft web portals, Live and Online Services around the world including infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability. Responsibilities

  • Help develop processes and tools to deliver material for prototypes throughout all design phases (EV,DV and PV), working with component OEM and ODM to implement and support delivery
  • Partner with CSCP and MS Business Groups to develop and implement strategies in support of Microsoft needs within multiple manufacturer and logistics landscapes
  • Highlight yield issues, schedule issues and potential supply problems related to new components during the NPI phases of platform development
  • Manage New Product Development material phase-out and phase in transition for new product materials
  • Ensure Design team specs components for new programs that are not near EOL within the supply base
  • Work with engineering and ODM/CM’s to ensure component level dual sourcing wherever possible
  • Determine liability for pre-production builds and offer solutions to management when needed
  • Determine issues in NPI phase early and oversee resolution before ramp. Report results out weekly to management
  • Provide mitigation plans related to NPI fulfillment dates and shortages.
  • Manage weekly visibility on design supplier build plans and release schedules.
  • Oversee regular weekly shortage meetings related to products in the Risk manage material buys to support NPI phases
  • Ensure Data Integrity in supply metrics and audits.  Report out supply metrics and supplier audit results to management
  • Validate NPI BOM revisions in cooperation with engineering and ECO control to ensure NPI build configurations are correct
  • Be responsible for on-going forecast, planning scenarios and overall supplier delivery performance for products throughout all NPI design phases (EV, DV and PV) and coordinating end-to-end with other teams
  • Drive Microsoft-established supplier performance metrics including on-time delivery performance, inventory positions, lead-times, product transitions, and risk analysis related to NPI development suppliers
  • Coordinate and communicate internal messaging on changes to hardware supply delivery, updates and impact for NPI
  • Achieve delivery performance targets as developed to support business needs
  • Evaluate and change processes, systems to enhance supply chain performance.
  • Manage supply base engagement process, including supplier operational review meetings, metrics, improvement plans and issue resolution
  • Lead teams in supplier operational evaluation processes, including on-site review activities for new suppliers and new product launches
  • Represent supplier needs within Microsoft
  • Responsible for managing continuous improvements and process initiatives in parallel to day-to-day business operations

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of technology platforms and systems
  • 5 years direct work experience above in a program management capacity, including all aspects of materials. process development and execution.
  • Certifications in Six Sigma Preferred, not required
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
  • Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Reacts to program adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.
    - Flexible during times of change.
  • Adept at conducting research into program-related issues and products. Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
    - Production and engineering background will be a plus.
    - Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial.
  • Experience managing NPI planning and purchasing in a dynamic changing environment
  • Experience working in electronics, contract management or integration/assembly with supply chain execution and delivery experience
  • Strong Communication and Problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Business, Supply Chain, or related technology BS degree
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in an electronics supply chain and hardware delivery environment
  • Lean-6 sigma project and process experience
  • APICs, ISM, or similar affiliation/certification preferred
  • Current Experience in IT or other high-tech electronics procurement or supply chain. 
  • Demonstrated experience and success managing materials for new product introductions for servers, storage and other high technology products. Datacenter support, datacenter build-out experience desired.
  • Project management exposure with General Contractors
  • Ability to work well independently in ambiguous situations, and deal effectively with conflicting priorities and changes
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge in root cause analysis/problem solving and the ability to implement and drive corrective actions and efficiencies in a matrix environment
    Customer driven and strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated team & communication skills with the ability to work in a dynamic environment with multiple groups across cultural and geographic sites.
