Senior Material Technologist
 

It is the responsibility of the role holder to be the packs lead role within the Global Raws & Packs Team, this involves working across both Raws & Packs to support the global material agenda.

The role holder will develop and deploy the packaging material strategy for the new global organization and be the lead in the packaging area within the team.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Be the lead for Packs within the team, helping to train and capability building within the team.
  • Create, Review and manage PRA’s & MRA’s for Raw and Pack materials. In close collaboration with relevant experts (e.g. Q&FS, PPPI, PD, SQA etc.) identifying and managing Food Safety, Quality, Legal, Lifestyle, and Sensory hazards for Material, Supplier and Transport & Storage.
  • Support new and existing raw and pack material specification development in close collaboration with relevant experts (PD, Q&FS, Commercial, Supply, Suppliers), incorporating Food Safety, Legal, Quality and Functional parameters and limits.
  • Support the Mars Food Value Leadership agenda and Business Continuity by supporting in new opportunities involving material changes and potential future novel ingredients.
  • Manage the progress of MRA/PRA implementation and the generation of specifications against the agreed timelines & Processes – Trending and data analysis with KPI’s to bring visibility to the regions
  • Backup for the Raws & Packs Manager for key areas 

 

This role works within the Raws & Packs Material team and will be responsible for assessing, building and implementing the packaging material implementation plan for the Global Food business in partnership with the Raw & Packs Material Manager & Stakeholders.

They will need to work with and drive progress within the regions to ensure compliance with PRQ from a material perspective as well as supporting the PRA global scope working closely with packaging developers, Q&FS, SQA and SRA.

 

What are we looking for?

  • Science based degree (i.e. Food science, Food technology, Engineering or Science).
  • Minimum of 2-3 years relevant industry experience.
  • Understanding of food sciences, packaging materials, Food Law, Food processing and production knowledge is preferred.
  • Proven track record of building collaborative, cross functional business relationships
  • Previous project management experience – Experience of translating and implementing business needs/priorities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within different teams, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • English language is required, additional European languages is a benefit
  • Important competencies: Problem Solving / Navigating complex challenges, Drive for Results, Standing Alone, Priority Setting, Conflict Management and Dealing with ambiguity
