Eaton's Electrical Sector, Critical Power & Digital Infrastructure (CPDI) division is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This position is based in Raleigh, NC. Eaton's Critical Power & Digital Infrastructure Division in Raleigh, NC is looking for a for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support our Data Center Systems group. This position is responsible for supporting customer applications and serves as an engineering resource to support related factory and field service issues. In this function you will: Be the technical design interface for all mechanical and drafting tasks including but not limited to planning, coordinating, maintaining, and meeting overall project schedule and cost targets. Establish the mechanical architecture of power conversion, energy storage, and distribution systems, including switchboard and switchgear products, and outdoor energy storage equipment designed to UL1778, UL891, UL9540, and UL1558 standards. Review engineering designs and drawings prior to release to production as developed by the team in an effort to effectively control quality and manufacturing costs. Design and generate 2D CAD design files and 3D parametric models, tolerance analysis, wiring diagram and mechanical drawings, documentation, assembly guides, procedures and illustrations for standard and custom products. Maintain and release design documentation in a PDM system during product development. Perform, or help perform, simulation studies using FEA tools such as Flotherm and ANSYS. Support factory and field and field deployment of new and existing designs. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution Minimum 3 years of relevant engineering experience No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of the work location will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation. Must be authorized to work in United State without company sponsorship now or in the future Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution Previous design experience of power systems, data centers, or energy storage systems Previous experience with manufacturing and production processes Previous experience in electronic and electro-mechanical design Understanding performance and capabilities of Eaton’s large UPS and power distribution products Position Success Criteria: Ability to understand the competitive critical power and energy storage environment Ability to work with a sense of urgency Ability to self-motivate and self-manage, work autonomously and in team oriented environment Ability to be proactive, attentive to detail, task oriented, and able to overcome obstacles to meet schedule requirements Ability to demonstrate strong communication and presentation skills What you will get from us Eaton’s mission is to improve the quality of life and the environment through the use of power management technologies and services.
