We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with deep experience leading teams through sub-system and part design in a fast-paced product development environment. The position requires an ability to manage design against a tight development schedule. A strong mix of technical breadth and process logistics is required to integrate mechanical assemblies and electronics into compelling customer experiences. Excellent communication skills are required to lead the team, set daily work direction and sync across partner organizations.

Responsibilities

Prior work experience should include a minimum of 8 years of mechanical product design, with at least 4 years in consumer electronics. This includes designing and documenting parts for a wide variety of high-volume manufacturing processes such as injection molding, die casting, stamping/forming and machining. A track record of innovation and experience in bringing complex part designs all the way through mass production is required.

 

The position includes regular interaction with over-seas suppliers. This requires periodic international travel to support design and manufacturing activities, as well as flexibility in daily schedule to allow for frequent conference calls during Asia-friendly times.

Qualifications

B.S. Mechanical engineering required, M.S. or PhD in related engineering discipline preferred.

Eight or more years of product development experience, 4 of which include electronic devices.

Experience in design of complex assemblies, and injection molding of products that successfully reached volume production.

High proficiency with Pro-E Creo.

In-depth knowledge of mechanical tolerance analysis.

Proficiency with prototyping and lab work.

Understanding of injection molding and metal forming methods.

GD&T experience preferred.

Ability to articulate technical concepts with strong written and verbal communication skills.

Domestic and International travel will be required.
