JOB PURPOSE

Sourcing and disposing of Precious Metals for the JM China’s business unit coverage requirements, using this activity to identify opportunities which will provide further trading business to optimize the profits and PMM’s operating cash flow and to manage the trading risks generated by JM’s precious metals activity.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Quote both bid and offer prices to JM Group and external customers and managing the price risk.
• Optimize trading margins, maintain metal balance sheet liquidity, and improve cash flow so that annual budget targets are met.
• Provide an efficient and competitive coverage service and develop multiple trading strategies & business models to meet intergroup and external customers’ requirements on metal dealing.
• Maintain daily metal price record sheet, work out the auction/average price and make comparison and do analysis on prices based on market situation.
• Monitor real-time data of metal position and provide metal status to management, hold meetings frequently to work out plans on metal lease, buffer stock set up.
• Carry out hedging operations with banks on behalf of customers and well evaluate and control the risk from price and exchange rate.
• Have a good awareness at of metal process and market situations, while providing advice and assistance to all intergroup business units.
• Provide the monthly trading reports and metal trading forecast and cash forecast.
• Assist trading manager to work on implement of new trading system.
• Build up safety awareness and behaviour to get a preliminary understanding of the sustainability in JM
• To carry out/ take on any other duties which are within the employee’s skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.

SCOPE

• The Senior Trader will interact with counterparts in China (banks/2nd refiners/traders), as well as multinationals with operations within the China.
• The Senior Trader is authorized to hold intraday positions of buffer stock (hedged) and borrow/lease
• Due to the high-risk nature of the job, Group controls and policies must be adhered to. The Senior Trader holds a high degree of autonomy in terms of their daily operations but must operate within the control limits (Group control policy and Senior Management oversight).

SPECIAL FACTORS

• Potential after-hours job duties sometimes meet any urgencies on precious metal arrangement
• Communication with counter parties is recorded to ensure 100% compliance.
• Some international travel may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS/ KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE

Major in economics, mathematics, finance and banking, computer science/statistics, or related business field, university degree

Minimum 3 years experience in a Trading role in commodity/precious metal industry or banks

Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail

Ability to work accurately under pressure

Having supply chain management knowledge and excellent IT skills are preferred

Good command of both written and oral English

Good knowledge and skill of computer and data analysis, familiar with Endur system is preferable.

Good interpersonal and presentation skills

Familiar with precious metal dealing procedure, regulation and guidelines in deal with good background on financial market.

Solid business, communication and negotiating skills
