The research and development effort includes a diverse staff of theoretical and experimental physicists, hardware designers and software engineers around the world. Our Espoo lab in Finland is looking for an experienced Nanofabrication Engineer to join our Advanced Nanofabrication Team.
In this role you will drive the development of processes, tools, and technologies for the manufacturing of nanoscale components for the Microsoft Quantum program. Your background and experience in fundamentals of clean-room processing technologies combined with hands-on micro- and nanofabrication skills will enable you to quickly engage in your new role. With your open and determined attitude you will collaborate closely and efficiently with other experts within Microsoft and its supplier network. An innovative and pragmatic approach coupled with strong time and resource management skills will enable you to succeed in this cutting-edge technology environment.
Responsibilities
- Hands-on development of new micro- and nanofabrication processes for quantum components.
- Hands-on development of process qualification and test methods.
- Leading projects from concept drafting to implementation and verification.
- Data analysis, interpretation of process and testing data to drive for continuous improvement.
- Implementation of process documentation and process control mechanisms.
- Close collaboration and communication with Microsoft Quantum teams around the world.
- Supplier management related to tool, material, and process development.
- Technical guidance of process engineers and machine / process technicians.
Qualifications
- Excellent fundamental understanding of micro- and nanofabrication technologies.
- Deep hands-on knowledge of typical fabrication processes, such as lithography, deposition and etch processes, and associated metrology.
- Hands-on attitude with the ability to use structured problem-solving techniques to drive rapid issue closure.
- Self-motivated to take personal ownership and deliver results while working in a highly challenging environment.
- Excellent oral & written communication skills in English.
- PhD. or MSc. degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience on nanofabrication.
