Eaton’s Aerospace Group, Fuel Motion Control (FMC) is currently seeking a Senior OPEX Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Irvine, CA facility. Position Overview: Responsible for planning and executing lean manufacturing initiatives to enhance the overall effectiveness of an operation, achieving operational excellence and variation reduction for the purpose of operations improvement, inventory reduction, customer responsiveness through the optimization of resources, maintain or improve quality and reduce overall cost as well as assisting with the organization’s implementation of the Eaton Business System. In this role, you will: Development/execution of strategic plans for implementation of ELS in facility based upon lean assessment. Conduct training needs assessment associated with ELS and deliver training as required. Leads or facilitates projects or events such as shop floor and Variation Reduction Kaizens. Implements effective measurement tools associated with continuous improvement and cost out. Contributes heavily in the identification of cost-out ideas and implementation and standardization of operational change Works as required with supplier development and quality organizations to ensure lean is deployed through the enterprise. Drives best practice sharing and internal and external benchmarking. Represents the Plant in Division Councils or Work Teams as appropriate. Responsible for co-establishing the cost reduction and operational performance targets and manage associated projects and their implementation Responsible to manage by balanced scorecard productivity and quality improvements (Example: cost out, cycle time reduction, non-conformance management (rework, scrap and warranty), inventory reduction, manpower optimization/productivity, facility utilization, etc.) Responsible for managing within established plant budgets (travel, training, etc.) When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we — as individuals and as a company — are stronger. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship. No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within 50 miles of the Irvine, CA facility will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation. Preferred Qualifications: Engineering degree from an accredited institution Experience with ERP systems Lean manufacturing experience Position Criteria: Expert in lean manufacturing system including training, planning and implementation of tools (and/or demonstrated capability and intellectual rigor) Position requires strong analytical skills and understanding of problem-solving tools/methods (six sigma, 8D, QOS or other) and Balanced Scorecard goal setting process Understands role of quality and variation reduction in driving operational improvement (minimum of Green Belt in 6Sigma, preferred). Understanding of budgets and cost drivers Broad knowledge of product and manufacturing process Understands Eaton Business Excellence Assessment Criteria Strong communication skills and comfort with facilitating teams/groups and working with all levels in the organization Strong computer skills Leadership to manage projects and drive for results. Ability to plan, organize and build effective teams, and motivate others. Innovative mind-set and ability to facilitate team sessions. Demonstrated application of Lean tools. Strong presentation skills to groups. The expected annual salary range for this role is $89,000 - $122,000. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only.
