iSTARE (Intel Security Threat Analysis & Reverse Engineering) team develops and applies multidisciplinary technical expertise and disruptive technology, to protect Intel’s Platforms/SoCs/IPs from a broad spectrum of evolving Cyber risks and threats.
We combine decades of team experience in security with an extremely diverse engineering and science expertise, including: Electronics, Computers, SW, HW, Crypto, Math, Failure Analysis, Nanotechnologies, Silicon technologies, Chemistry, AI and more.
Your Challenge
Responsible for leading or taking an active role in complex, multidisciplinary security research projects. Commands deep pervasive pulse on Intel business/technologies and emerging threat landscape in hacker community to prioritize offensive security research focus. Ability to navigate around ambiguities and obstacles to independently solve complex problems. Demonstrated expertise in vulnerability discovery, analysis and exploitation. Explores and invents software and hardware techniques as a method of attack against compute targets. Develops proof of concepts to characterize exploitability and impacts. Recommends systemic mitigations and demonstrates their robustness across a diverse portfolio of products. Leads automation pathfinding to improve security assurance capabilities of product teams. Shares expert insights and new learning and contributes intellectual property to internal and external communities. Requires knowledge of computer architecture, CPU design, SoC development methodologies & processes, SoC layout and manufacturing, chipset functionality, FW & HW security, crypto, x86 compute paradigms. Demonstrates effective communication with executives and productive collaboration w peer researchers.
Qualifications
Do you have some of these skills (proven hands-on experience of at least 5 years)?
For team leader role – proven successful experience of at least 3 years as security research team leader.
Reverse engineering of x86, x64, MIPS, ARM or others (Hex-Rays IDA Pro and plugin/loaders development).
Penetration testing of embedded devices (FW extraction, binary analysis)
Understanding of the underlying HW of embedded systems
Fuzzing frameworks, exploitation development; ASM/C/C++ knowledge and low-level C programming.
Silicon devices design, architecture, failure isolation or failure analysis in modern chips & processes.
Physical hardware attack techniques (power analysis, fault insertion, reverse engineering, or other)
Reading layout & schematic while correlating them to the real-world device.
Ways to stand out from the crowd
BA/B.Sc. or MA/M.Sc. or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, mathematics, physics or relevant domains.
Understanding of complex SW/FW/HW projects design.
Understanding of modern embedded cryptography and common security issues.
Understanding of modern embedded cryptography & underlying mathematics and common security issues.
Experience in developing tools for automation in vulnerability research, using C/C++ and Python/GO.
Understanding & experience with micro-architectural attacks (side channel, fault injection, etc.)
Experience using JTAG/SCAN/Chip-Whisperer or other direct interaction with test hardware.
Understanding of the underlying HW of computer systems, from transistor to ALU, from CPU chip to a full server in the cloud.
Modern process technology, manufacturing and failure modes and back-end design.
Advanced CMOS devices (FinFETs and multi-gate transistor).
