Responsibilities: •Works independently on a wide variety of legal work and contracts, including negotiation and resolution of legal issues raised in the context of Research and Development. •Identifies and resolves routine and moderately complex legal matters in area of responsibility with minimal supervision. •Resolves legal issues using negotiation skills and legal experience and represents AbbVie externally to outside counsel, competitors, academic institutions, suppliers, consultants, and service providers. •Performs independent analysis of unique problems and proposes solutions. •Assists attorneys in resolving complex legal issues on projects involving multiple disciplines within legal department and/or multiple functional areas or divisions within AbbVie. •Develops and manages workflow processes for legal issues arising from the R&D pipeline. •Executes core job responsibilities in a timely manner. •Assigned matters generally have a significant impact on business activities and operations. Qualifications Qualifications: •Bachelor’s Degree and/or ABA approved Paralegal Certificate. •Minimum 6 years of paralegal experience including experience in negotiating contracts. •Position requires discretion, independent judgment, and critical thinking skills for identifying and addressing contractual issues and managing workload of increasing complexity. •Strong organizational, project management, and multitasking skills to manage multiple matters, set own work priorities and meet required work deadlines. •Strong communication skills required to (i) effectively gather relevant information from business groups and (ii) interact and negotiate with others, both inside and outside the Company. •Ability to perform independent analysis of unique problems of increasing complexity and diversity, and propose solutions to attorney or supervisor. •Strong writing and analytical skills required to independently review, draft, and prepare documents. •Flexibility to take on special projects and/or additional responsibilities as needed.
