Job Description
#### Position Description:


Lenovo’s legal department is looking for talented, highly motivated and
dynamic Senior Paralegal, Patents and Operations Specialist to join our patent
team.

**Location can be remote**

We are looking for someone who is an outstanding paralegal and operations
specialist with demonstrated experience in Standards Essential Patent
processes, Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) filings, and patent portfolio
processes and operations.  You will manage all Standards Essential Patent
application filings, i.e. foreign filings in PCT and non-PCT countries (12
months deadline); and PCT national/regional phase entry (30/31 months
deadline) and European Validation process. You will be partnering with
inventors, technical leads, and patent portfolio managers across our global IP
sites.

Job Responsibilities (Essential functions and duties):
• Organize and drive initiatives to enhance global patent operation databases
work flows (e.g. new systems, applications, tools, policies, processes, team
development) including SEP claim mapping and claim charting processes and
documentation.
• Developing best practices and internal SOP’s for ensuring high functioning
patent filing and global patent awards processes.
• Developing best practices and internal SOP’s for ensuring high functioning
licensing opportunities team and processes.
• Developing and managing patent budget and corresponding filing plans for
world wide SEP operations.
• Working within, monitoring, and maintaining global patent operation
databases, i.e. Tymetrix, IPFolio, IPAN, and Innography, on daily basis to
ensure accuracy and completeness of records.
• Staying current on changing requirements of global Patent Offices and fees
and developing proactive alignment of filing practices.
• Preparing and obtaining required signatures for patent portfolio
documentation (assignments and declarations) and building processes to ease
workload to inventors.
• Independently correspond with and prepare operational guidelines for outside
counsel, global affiliates, portfolio managers, and inventors.
• Assisting with on-boarding and training new staff members, key stakeholders
and other partners on filing practices, processes, systems/tools, databases,
resources and standards.

#### Position Requirements:


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Competencies (KSAC’s):
• Extensive experience in Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), China, US and other
international patent filing procedures and rules.
• Knowledge of SEP declarations, filing strategy, and claim mapping processes.
• Self-starter and ability to re-build and manage patent operations and
processes.
• Must be proactive, self-disciplined and able to work independently and
globally in a virtual team.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple, concurrent tasks and assignments.
• Ability to work with precision and accuracy.
• Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Job Requirements – Prior work experience
• At least 10 years of combined US and foreign paralegal experience in a law
firm or in-house corporate setting is required.

Educational Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree is required.
