Job Description
We are seeking a experienced Senior Planner engineer to join us at Siemens Mobility – Rail Infrastructure, This role will be a permanent full time position working at the York site. About your role As a senior member of the planning function you will lead the project planning and control function on either a major project or be responsible for a number of smaller projects. You will be a key member of the project delivery team and support senior project and programme managers in the successful planning and control of project delivery. You will also be expected to support the overall business planning requirements of the organisation through the proper resourcing of plans under your control. As a Senior Planner you will utilise your experience and expertise to support improvement activities and ensure best practice is identified and implemented. You will also help mentor and coach more junior planners within the planning team. What are my responsibilities? Liaise with programme team to assess programme requirements from technical, contractual and commercial documentation and ensure programmes align to internal/external requirements Responsible for setting and communicating the goals and objectives of the planners within the team. Co-ordinate the output of the planning team, including contract resources, in order to ensure robust solutions are developed. Manage the provision of effective planning on Siemens Rail Electrification tenders and bids with regard to resources, plans, technology, risk, process etc. To aid in identifying improvements to the planning procedures and processes, driving through change within the business and in line with Siemens values and Business Strategy. To Identify training, recruitment and development needs of the planners within the team. Co-ordination/integration of multiple projects and the management of inter-project relationships. Maintains and develop good relationships with customers, industry associations, suppliers and partners. Close liaison with contractual and business partners to ensure agreed business goals are realised. Ensuring the safety of staff, customers and third parties in relation to business activities. Ensure plans / programmes are appropriately structured, coded, resourced, budgeted and progressed to provide the Project Management team and members with an indication of the status of the project and to ensure the programme is realistic and achievable. Monitor and measure progress / performance and provide effective project reporting to the Client, Project Management staff and Finance function. Liaising with the Project Manager and the Client to ensure all the required timescales are being adhered to and to ensure the critical path is followed at all times Provide guidance and delegation of work to Assistant Planner as and when necessary About us We’re Siemens.
